The date of Bob Odenkirk’s comeback to AMC is: The network said Tuesday during the Television Critics Association winter press conference that his new show “Lucky Hank” (formerly “Straight Man”) would debut on Sunday, March 19 on AMC and AMC+. There was no time given.
Based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning author Richard Russo’s book “Straight Man,” “Lucky Hank” depicts the midlife crisis of William Henry Devereaux, Jr. (Odenkirk), the head of the English department at the financially strapped Railton College in the Pennsylvania rust belt. Lily, played by Mireille Enos, is Hank’s wife. Along with his wife Naomi Odenkirk, Peter Farrelly, Mark Johnson, and Marc Provissiero, Odenkirk also acts as executive producer.
When “Better Call Saul” ended in August, Odenkirk’s 13-year run as Saul Goodman, Jimmy McGill, and Gene Takovic over two programmes came to an end. Only seven months later, “Lucky Hank” will debut. While filming the last season of “Saul,” he received the “Lucky Hank” screenplay, and given the humorous nature of “Hank,” he was drawn to it.

Along with Chris Diamantopoulos and Tom Bower from Raymond & Ray, the sitcom also stars Oscar Nunez from The Office, Kyle MacLachlan from Twin Peaks, and Oscar Nunez from The Office (Silicon Valley).
Lucky Hank Plot
The plot of Lucky Hank is based on Richard Russo’s book Heterosexual Man. Lucky Hank is an eight-episode narrative about a midlife crisis that is set at Railton College, according to the official description provided by AMC, which is succinct. written in the first person by William Henry Devereaux, Jr. (Odenkirk), an unexpected head of the English department at a college in the Rust Belt of Pennsylvania that receives little funding.
The original book by Russo’s summary is as follows:
“William Henry Devereaux, Jr. is the reluctant head of the English department of a college in Pennsylvania’s Rust Belt that receives dreadfully inadequate funding. Devereaux’s resistance stems in part from his inherent anarchist tendencies and in part from the reality that his area is more fractured than the Balkans.
Devereaux speculates his wife is in a relationship with his dean, has his nose broken by an irate coworker, fears that a curvy assistant is attempting to woo him with peaches, and fears that the execution of a goose will be shown on local television all within the span of a single week.
He must also deal with his adulterous father, the fact that his childhood commitments were broken, and the foreboding breakdown of several essential body processes. Straight Man is, in a nutshell, a typical Russo film: hilarious, touching, kind, and memorable.

Odenkirk is featured in a brief teaser trailer that was released along with the release date information. The camera steadily zooms in on Devereaux’s face as the 15-second teaser concentrates on his face. He is wearing spectacles and a well-groomed beard, and he displays many expressions of rage and disgust.
Devereaux provides narration for the trailer, saying, “I have always been a challenging guy. I specialise in little annoyance and tiny conflict. I’m in that lane.” The video moves on by displaying the English Department Chair’s door and a goose ambling about.

Odenkirk recently revealed to Entertainment Weekly that Lucky Hank’s discovery of a tonal middle ground was a welcome surprise.
“Tonally, I just think it’s fantastic. It seems like a fresh blending of humour and drama that we’ve been anticipating for a while. It’s like if you took a tremendously entertaining programme, such as Parks and Recreation, and said, “Let’s slow down and get to know these characters, and have their internal fights become a little bit more of a subject matter.” The combination of humour and the type of drama we’ve seen in Better Call Saul is absolutely fantastic.”
