Introducing The Boroughs, a brand new science fiction series about to premiere on Netflix! We’ve got all the details down below!
Executive producing The Boroughs will be Matt and Ross Duffer, who created Stranger Things. The Duffer Brothers inked a nine-figure agreement with Netflix in July 2022, and as part of that pact, the streaming giant unveiled five of their forthcoming projects.
An unnamed original series from Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews, creators of The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, was among the projects. Others included a Stranger Things spinoff series, a stage play set in the Stranger Things universe, a television adaptation of The Talisman, a live-action series adaptation of the anime Death Note, and several others.
It has now come to light that the science fiction series The Boroughs is the original work of Addiss and Matthews. The new series was recently announced, so there isn’t much information available at this time, but here’s what we do know.
The Boroughs Release Date
There has been no official announcement on when the new science fiction series will premiere, but 2023 seems less and less likely. The show’s development is anticipated to be drawn out, with scriptwriting, production, and post-production all consuming substantial time. There has been no announcement about the duration of the first season’s eight episodes.
On the other hand, like Stranger Things, it is expected that each episode will be thirty minutes long. The most recent best estimate puts the release in 2024, although it might be much later than that. Public information will be disseminated after the official release date has been established.
The Boroughs Plot
Official synopsis: “Amidst the pastoral setting of a New Mexico retirement community, an unlikely group of heroes must unite to thwart an extraterrestrial menace that threatens to take the one commodity they scarcely possess—time.”
The Boroughs Cast
Unfortunately, we still don’t know who will be playing what roles in the future series. This is to be anticipated, given that the program has just been approved by Netflix. Whether or not scripts have been created is yet unknown.
We should, however, anticipate hearing updates on casting choices soon, given that the series has received formal permission. Through their Netflix-based production firm, Upside Down Pictures, the Duffer Brothers and Hilary Leavitt will serve as executive producers for the series. The Boroughs Creators
The developers of The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance for Netflix, Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews, are also responsible for creating The Boroughs on Netflix. Addiss is also contributing as a writer to the highly anticipated upcoming animated feature film War of the Rohirrim, which is part of Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings franchise. The program will be managed by Addiss and Matthews.
The Boroughs Production Status
At this time, a formal manufacturing schedule is not available. We don’t know whether screenplays have been written, as noted before. Given the recent order for the program, however, we’d be surprised if they have. Before production begins, the scripts must be completed, and the majority of the casting must be finalized.
Although the principal shooting may begin in 2023, it is quite unlikely to conclude this year. We will inform you as soon as we get the start date for manufacturing.
