Ratched Season 2: Release Date, Cast, Plot, And Everything We Know Far

Ryan Murphy’s show Ratched made news as soon as it came out. But not much is known about how it will return. On September 18, 2020, the psychological thriller came out. Now, after 2 years without any news, is Season 2 of Ratched still going to happen? Here’s all the information you need about the Netflix show.

Ratched Season 2

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest is a well-known book that inspired Sarah Paulson’s role as Nurse Ratched. Ken Kesey is the author of the book. The dark side of her personality has been brought out by her unique personality. The thriller series is worth watching because of the small details.

Evan Romansky came up with the idea for the horror drama. It has a number of people who are in charge of making it. Also, there are 8 episodes, and each one lasts between 45 and 62 minutes. IMDb gives the show a score of 7.2 out of 10. In addition to that, it has 61% on rotten tomatoes. Ryan Murphy was in charge of the direction for the first few episodes, but that changed later.

Ratched Season 2 Renewal Status

Those who already like Ratched will be happy to know that Netflix picked up the show in 2017 for two seasons, so 10 more episodes are already set. So far, the series hasn’t been a big hit with critics, but most of the reviews have been good. Since Murphy and Paulson have worked together on a number of highly-rated shows in the past, it seems likely that Netflix users will commit to the eight episodes of Ratched season 1.

Ratched Season 2 Storyline

At the end of season 1, Mildred is trying to make sure that her brother is put to death in a humane way. Just a few weeks before Edmund is to be put to death by lethal injection, the governor brings back the electric chair and puts the killer to death himself. So, Mildred comes up with a plan to kill Edmund in Lucia State Hospital so that he won’t have to suffer. But the priest killer gets away with Charlotte Wells and Sophie Okonedo, two other patients. Two years later, Mildred goes on vacation to Mexico and finds out that a number of nurses in Chicago have been killed. She gets a phone call from Edmund, and she says she’ll find him. In the last few minutes of the first season of Ratched on Netflix, we find out that nurse Louise (Amanda Plummer) deceived Mildred and is now on the road with Edmund and Charlotte.

In season 2 of Ratched, Mildred’s plan to find and kill Edmund seems to put her at odds with her love interest, Gwendolyn, who is getting breast cancer treatment. Then, the couple decided to take a road trip like Thelma and Louise. Ratched season 2 on Netflix will probably take place in places other than Lucia State Hospital, and Mildred will probably have some dark experiences that explain more about how she was thinking in One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.

Ratched Season 2 Episodes

There are reports that season 2 of Ratched will have a total of 18 episodes. Soon after the creators of the show posted the promotional video, this news came out. The first episode of this show came out on Netflix on September 18, 2020.

Ratched Season 2 Release Date

Fans of Ratched might not like the fact that the tv series has not been renewed yet. The first episode of the show aired in September in 2016. It was decided that it would happen for two more seasons. But there have been no new developments about Season 2 of Ratched. In a recent interview, Sarah Paulson said that she has no clue as to what’s on with the show.

Since there is no official word coming soon, the show is probably over. But the show could be saved because it has good ratings on IMDb. The show has also not been officially renewed by Netflix. So, fans can still hope for Season 2 of Ratched. There is a good chance, though, that it won’t happen before 2024.

Ratched Season 1 Review

Ratched is the perfect example of the old saying “as wide as an ocean but as deep as a puddle.” Even though the show looks great and has some great set choices, it stumbles over its own assumption and tone, not knowing whether it wants to be scary or dramatic. The end result is like eating two pieces of bread without butter or anything else on them. You might be full, but you probably won’t feel very satisfied or want to go back further.

The premise itself is the other big problem with Ratched. Who really watched One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and wanted to know more about Nurse Ratched’s past? Her whole character shows how psychiatric care has to be done “by the book.”

Rotten Tomatoes gives the first season of Ratched a 61 percent Tomatometer score, but top critics only give it a 43 percent score. In general, critics seem to think that Murphy and his team took the safe route with the visuals and themes and that the abundance of bright colors makes it feel more like a fantasy world than a real psychiatric hospital. As usual, Paulson gives a good performance, but she doesn’t have the same intimidating quality that Louise Fletcher had in the movie version. Critics seem to like the style as a whole, but they seem to be more worried about the weak storyline and the fact that Paulson doesn’t give a big-time performance.
