The action anime series Full Metal Panic! is adapted from the light novel of the same name, which is called Furumetaru Panikku! in Japanese. The light novel series, created by Shoji Gatoh and drawn by Shiki Douji, had its initial publication on September 9, 1998, almost twenty years ago.

Full Metal Panic Story
Protecting the adventurous Japanese high school student Kaname Chidori is the mission of Sousuke Sagara, a member of the clandestine anti-terrorist private military group Mithril. With the help of his friends Kurz Weber and Melissa Mao, he travels to Japan to attend Jindai High School, which is Chidori’s alma mater.
Because he has never interacted with people in his life, Sousuke views the world through a military lens and is thus ridiculed as a nutjob by his classmates.

Season 5 of Full Metal Panic is likely to cover the events of volumes 10–12 of the light novel, according to forecasts.
