Will there be an Atypical season 5?
We hate to be the ones to tell you this, but there will not be a season 5 of “Atypical.” After four seasons, Netflix stopped making the show. It’s always sad to hear that a show is ending, but at least the creators had enough time to give the characters the happy endings they deserved. Some shows, like “Cursed,” ended with a cliffhanger after just one season.
Robia Rashid, who created and runs the show, said she was sad that the season was ending when the renewal was announced. She is glad to be able to tell the story, though. Rashid told THR in a statement, “I’m thrilled that we’ll be making a fourth season of Atypical. I’m sad that this series is coming to an end, but I’m very grateful to have been able to tell this story.”

I hope that the legacy of Atypical is that more unheard voices continue to be heard and that even after this show ends, we keep telling funny, emotional stories from underrepresented points of view.

Atypical: What’s it all about?
Sam Gardner, a young, happy-go-lucky Connecticut teenager with autism, says he wants to start dating girls. Doug has had trouble getting close to Sam over the years, so he is thrilled when Sam comes to him for help with life and love. Doug drives Sam to the house of his longtime crush when Sam wants to surprise her with chocolate-covered strawberries. When they get there, they find out that Sam’s crush is Julia, his 26-year-old therapist. Doug suddenly pulls Sam away and tells him in a worried voice to find a girlfriend his own age. Sam decides he needs a “practice girlfriend,” and with the help of his friends and family, he starts to learn how to date and be in a relationship in a socially acceptable way.
Elsa has difficulty establishing a life outside of being Sam’s guardian as he gets older and more independent. Elsa meets a bartender while out with her friends and starts a hot romance with him.

What Atypical Season 5’s story could’ve been about?
All of the characters in Season 4 of Atypical got happy endings. But it would be easy to pick up on those stories again without ruining the happy endings to each one. At the end of season 4 of Atypical, Sam is still young and has his entire life ahead of him. As someone on the spectrum, he will have to deal with a lot of issues throughout the remainder of his life. But two members of the Gardner family could have taken a specific path in a possible fifth season of Atypical. After giving it some thought, Sam’s father asks him to come with him to Antarctica to study penguins. The Gardners’ next steps in life would probably be shown in season 5 of Atypical. Fans will have to guess what will happen next to Sam and his family.
