Io Sakisaka is a manga artwork expert from Japan who wrote and drew the shōjo manga series ‘Blue Spring Ride’, which is more often known as ‘Ao Haru Ride’ in Japan. Japanese animation director Sakisaka is well recognized for her work on the film HAL and the more current manga series Omoi, Omoware, Furi, and Furare.
The 12-volume tankōbon series of the manga was released by Shueisha from its inception in the February 2011 edition of the popular magazine ‘Bessatsu Margaret’ to its conclusion in February 2015.
The manga has been translated into other languages, including Chinese, French, German, and Italian, thanks to the different publishing houses that have purchased the rights to it. At their ‘Anime Boston 2018’ event, Viz Media revealed that they are currently working on an English translation.
The name of the album is “Au Haru Ride,” and its release is scheduled for the latter half of 2019. Approximately 5.84 million copies of the original Japanese manga have been sold as of May 9, 2014.
Ao Haru Ride Season 2 Renewal Status
When it came out in 2014, the highly praised Shoujo anime won over millions of fans. Many young women and teens were moved by the story’s positive message and could identify with the protagonist’s journey of self-discovery.
Many fans were disappointed with the concluding episode, however. The majority of viewers felt the finale was unjustified. Because of this, they were eager to find out what happened next in the narrative. This led to a dramatic spike in interest in Ao Haru Ride Season 2.
Production I.G. has not renewed the anime despite the high demand. Well, the end of the original material is one of the primary causes of the same. An abundance of anime adaptations serve primarily as promotional materials for the original manga, light novels, or video games.
Producing such anime is solely driven by studios’ desire to boost sales of their original content. That is why they rely on content marketing to stay afloat. The anime will serve no purpose in returning now that the Ao Haru Ride manga and book have concluded.
Ao Haru Ride Season 2 Release Date
We don’t have a release date to provide since the anime series is currently awaiting renewal for season 2. Even though the anime series has been running for nine years, Production I.G. still has no plans to revive it. We are concerned that the anime series, which debuted in July 2014, may not return as it has not yet received a renewal. But hold on to your hats!
Renewals of previously airing anime programs have occurred when one studio was bought up by another. ‘Ao Haru Ride’ season 2 production might be greenlit by other studios if fan petitions and support reach a certain threshold.
Ao Haru Ride Story
The protagonist, Futaba, is a high school student who, on a wet day, has an impromptu encounter with her classmate Kou beneath the roof. Kou asks Futaba to accompany him to a festival after their uncomfortable encounter. It would seem that they have begun a love connection. But Kou had failed to come on the designated day, and eventually, nobody paid any attention to his vanishing act.
After Kou’s unjust absence for years, Futaba finally saw him on a beautiful day as she struggled to alter her public persona at her new school. However, Futaba no longer falls in love with him since he is different today.
He went by Kou Mabuchi, and the most surprising thing is how much his personality altered. Futaba, the protagonist, struggles to adapt to the new Kou and transform her image so that she becomes everyone’s favorite. How long will her feelings for Kou last?

Ao Haru Ride Season 2 Plot
Futaba Yoshioka, the protagonist of the previous season, is a girl who deliberately avoids those whom she thinks could be interested in her. Even if her female peers didn’t approve, she was popular with the boys in middle school.
To get out of the same sticky position in high school, she plays the fool. Kou Tanaka, on whom she had a secret crush, vanished without a trace. Upon learning that he has returned under a new identity, she becomes elated.
But now he’s different, and nobody can get past him. Returning to her former self is Futaba’s goal in regaining his attention, but doing so might cause her to lose her friends. Since then, no official information about Blue Spring Ride Season 2 has been revealed, although the narrative will continue.
Ao Haru Ride Season 2: Is there enough source material?
From 2011 to 2015, thirteen volumes made up the Ao Haru Ride manga series. The first four volumes of the manga (up to Chapter 14) were adapted into an anime series that aired for thirteen episodes.
Production I.G. thus has plenty of material to finish the show’s plot. It would be wise to pick up the tale after the fourth volume, considering how fans were let down by the first season’s conclusion. The second season of Ao Haru Ride will most likely adapt the manga’s following four volumes.
Where to watch Ao Haru Ride?
