‘Cop Craft’ is an action-fantasy detective anime directed by Shoji Gatoh (‘Full Metal Panic’). One might wrongly assume that it lacks substance based on its absurdly high production value. ‘Cop Craft’ features far more than just exciting action sequences, thus that statement is completely false. The plot is rather straightforward: aliens and humans live together peacefully, but it only takes one person to cause widespread havoc. It’s a crime-solving anime with a rather serious tone overall, although it occasionally lightens up with jokes about the aliens’ inability to understand even the most fundamental aspects of human culture. These random jokes are unexpectedly hilarious and encouraging.
Although the animation style and heavy use of CGI may put you off, the action sequences are excellent. The soundtrack enhances the Western atmosphere and goes well with the show’s other American police-themed elements. ‘Cop Craft’ as a whole isn’t flawless, but it has great promise. This should be your first stop if you’re looking for something fresh to try this year.
Cop Craft Season 2 Release Date
Season 1 ran on Tokyo MX, BS11, and Wowow from July 8, 2019, until September 30, 2019, and had a total of 12 episodes. The audience’s reaction in the form of ratings and reviews was mostly positive. The series was solid overall, however, the low-budget animation turned off some viewers.
You probably want to know if Season 2 will be ordered for the show. So far, there have been no changes, and the creators haven’t even put a stamp on it to indicate their approval. The first season wrapped up much of the source material for the volumes of the novel adaptation, thus producers will need to create new content for the second season. The novel isn’t finished yet, but if it does well enough, the producers can start planning season two.
