Tom Hanks played Detective Scott Turner in the 1989 film adaptation of “Turner & Hooch,” which followed Turner and his lovely French mastiff as they investigate the murder of Hooch’s owner. After the popularity of the buddy-cop film, a TV pilot was developed into a sequel, and now, over thirty years later, a 12-episode TV series is airing on Disney+ with Josh Peck (via Deadline) playing the role of Scott Turner Jr.
The first season focuses on Turner and Hooch solving crimes as Scott investigates the mysterious circumstances surrounding his father’s death and the case he had been working on when he supposedly suffered a heart attack. The subject of “Will the series continue?” was raised after the October 6 airing of the season finale of the PG-rated action series (with plenty of gun violence). Is this the final chapter for the “Turner & Hooch” crime-fighting duo? What we’ve learned so far is as follows.
Turner & Hooch Season 2 Renewal Status
Disney+ has not yet announced whether or not they will be renewing the show. If the show is renewed, Disney may wait to release new episodes until Disney Plus Day, an annual event marked by special programming, sneak peeks, and other surprises. Disney Plus Day originally occurred on November 12, 2021, however, it is still unknown if or when it will return. Season 2 of Turner & Hooch may have to wait till then to be officially approved.
Turner & Hooch Storyline
Each episode of “Turner & Hooch” is mostly self-contained, while being part of an overarching storyline about Scott Sr.’s death. Scott and Hooch are rookie cops who, over the course of the season, encounter drug traffickers, jewel robbers, counterfeit money, Scott’s ex-girlfriend, and an illegal fighting dog ring, all while navigating the politics and other challenges of working as a K9 unit.

Turner & Hooch Season 2 Expected Plot
We don’t know where Season 2 of Turner and Hooch is headed because we haven’t heard anything official about it. Season 1 of “Turner & Hooch” had a general storyline revolving around Scott Srdeath, but otherwise, each episode could be watched as a self-contained drama. Scott and Hooch spend the season learning the ropes as a K9 team and navigating the politics and problems that come with it as they investigate cases involving drug traffickers, jewel thieves, counterfeit money, Scott’s ex-girlfriend, and an illegal dogfighting ring.
Closure and a happy ending were provided at the episode’s conclusion. We’re talking about having a baby, getting married, experiencing romantic chemistry, finding a new job, and having some puppy antics. Consequently, the next season would likely feature a continuation of the cases started by the two pals, perhaps with a new overarching mystery to solve. Unlike past series that left viewers hanging only to be canceled, “Turner & Hooch” is now (almost) complete. I really hope this isn’t the final chapter!
Turner & Hooch Season 2 Release Date
There is currently no release window for Season 2 of Turner & Hooch, per the Web News Observer, as the show has not been taken up. If it does occur, it might not be until 2023 at the earliest. Originally, Disney+ was to release all 12 episodes of Turner & Hooch weekly beginning on July 16, 2021, and continuing until October 1, 2021.

The public has shown a lot of love and support for the program Turner and Hooch, which is about a master and a pet. IMDb has given the show a 6.6/10, Common Sense Media gave it a 3.5/5, and Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 57% approval rating.

Why did the show fail?
The original release of “Turner & Hooch” occurred the year before I was born, in 1988. Disney+ is attempting to produce original material that does not take place in the “Star Wars” or “Marvel” canons. They’ve been recycling outdated intellectual property in the form of “original” productions in order to meet this goal.
Those who had seen the original “Turner & Hooch” probably didn’t see the point in watching the reboot. Since the franchise is 32 years old, there is no hook to draw in new viewers beyond “OMG BIG HEADED DOG.” Because Tom Hanks was riding high from the success of “Big,” the first “Turner & Hooch” is often cited as the reason for the film’s moderate success.
The show also has issued since the dynamic between Scott Turner Jr. and Hooch grows old after a while. I think it would have worked better as a sequel. The concert had some charming moments but ultimately failed to leave an impression. It’s unfortunate that “Turner & Hooch” was canceled, but layoffs are never welcome, and at least this version of the story has a happy ending than the original.
Is Turner & Hooch worth watching?
One of the most widely watched shows in recent memory is Turner & Hooch. The show’s script, performances, and storyline have garnered multiple honors, and its fans can’t wait for Season 2 to premiere. So, what exactly sets Turner and Hooch apart? Is it a good show, or are there others that are more deserving of my time? Turner & Hooch, first and foremost, is a great combination of comedy and drama.
The show is able to appeal to a wide audience because of the way it skillfully juggles comedic and dramatic beats. It also features great writing, with interesting and funny characters and banter. For the foreseeable future, Turner & Hooch will be an entertaining show.
