The season finale of “The Recruit,” a new political series on Netflix, establishes the framework for a future season. The show is getting positive fan feedback, and many are guessing about what could happen in the upcoming season.
Here, we evaluate its performance and speculate on what to look forward to in season two. For fans of Noah Centineo, today marks the debut of the actor’s most recent film, The Recruit, on Netflix. It’s a nice one, too! Spoilers follow.
The crime series has Noah in a slightly different character as Owen Hendricks, a bright but inexperienced CIA lawyer thrust into the heart of the intelligence business. A perilous game of intelligence operations ensnares Owen whenever a former agent threatens to reveal agency secrets. Intense.
The eight-episode series is brand-new on Netflix, and fans are already clamoring for more. Additionally, the S1 cliffhanger sets us up for resolutions in the second season: what it will happen to Owen going forward, and is Max even alive?
Here is all we currently know about season two of The Recruit.
The Recruit Season 2: Cast
Before knowing the entire cast, we’ll want season two to be announced. However, we would naturally anticipate Noah Centineo, who has been the series’ star, to continue as Owen Hendricks.
Additionally, Angel Parker portrays Dawn, and Fivel Stewart plays Hannah (and we’re expecting an Owen-Hannah reuniting in S2).
Max Meladze is one figure about whom we are uncertain (played by Laura Haddock). In the season one conclusion, Karolina, who later turns out to be her daughter, shoots Max. To determine if Max is still alive, we don’t witness enough of the incident’s aftermath. Even still, it’s likely that if she passes away, we’ll only get to see Laura Haddock again in flashbacks.
Kristian Bruun plays the ever-anxious coworker Janus Ferber. Walter Nyland, the CIA’s chief counsel, and Owen’s supervisor is portrayed by Vondie Curtis-Hall. Victor Turgeon as Talco Angel Parker as Dawn, a CIA agent conducting a covert operation in Yemen. Vienna-based senior case officer Xander, played by Byron Mann. Kaylah Zander plays Owen’s extremely close friend and prospective love interest, Amelia.
What Is the Netflix Series “The Recruit”?
The character Owen, a clueless rookie attorney for the CIA, is followed in The Recruit by Noah. He has been tasked with reading all of the letters that the company has gotten from persons threatening to leak secret material.
It starts off as a fairly routine duty, but things change when Owen finds himself caught up in “power politics when a former asset threatens to disclose the nature of her long-term connection with the organization unless they exonerate her of a significant crime.”
In a September 2022 conversation with Netflix’s Tudum, Noah said of the eight-episode series: “He believes he’s working as a lawyer – the fact is you’re never simply a lawyer at the CIA.” There are a tonne more things happening, and The Recruit gave us a look into that world.
The biography of Adam Ciralsky, who started out as a CIA lawyer before becoming an accomplished journalist and producer, served as the inspiration for the show. Even setting up a meeting at the actual CIA headquarters in Virginia so Noah could meet genuine CIA employees and ask them questions about their professions before the show’s debut.
When some of the intelligence staff responded with the famed nonresponse from the organization, “We neither can confirm nor deny,” Noah was overjoyed. That one, he told Vanity Fair, “is my fave.” “We made an effort. We received one of those responses at least three times.
Fans of Noah may be surprised by The Recruit because most of his Netflix productions are rom-com. Naturally, I adore Netflix and want to keep working there. Noah elucidated. But I was aware that I really didn’t want to perform another romantic comedy.

The Recruit Season 2 Plot
The conclusion of Season 1 saw a lot of events. Hendricks now saw the serious ramifications of his decision to fake it till he made it and get into over his head.
In addition to having to kill someone, he also had to watch while Max killed her competitor.
He had endangered his pals Terrance and Hannah’s life, stirred a lot of CIA feathers, barely escaped a gunfight, then afterward, just when he believed he was free, he had been abducted.
Then comes the biggest twist of them all, if you didn’t anticipate it. He believed Max’s daughter was dead, but she was actually still alive and just as ruthless as her mother.
We left Karolina content to shoot her mother and Owen with Max, who was being held captive in a Prague basement. Max is he dead? Is Owen the next? Can he negotiate his way into this extremely precarious situation?
What Location did The Recruit Film?
In The Recruit, Owen must travel extensively to discover Max Meladze’s true history. Nearly every five minutes, he makes trips to Yemen, Vienna, Prague, Lebanon, and back to Phoenix.
But were all of these sites actually used for filming The Recruit or was it simply highly inventive filming? The answer is both yes and no. The Grandé Studios in Pointe St. Charles in Montreal, Canada, where the majority of the show was shot.
Los Angeles, California, and Vienna, Austria served as the only other foreign filming locations. On December 16, 2022, Netflix released Season 1 of the new CIA drama The Recruit, leaving viewers who rushed across all eight action-packed scenes with a lot of unanswered issues.
Noah Centineo plays Owen Hendricks in the drama, which was written by Alexi Hawley. He is a rookie CIA lawyer who finds himself on a risky assignment with Max Meladze (Laura Haddock), a previous asset who claims to have vital government information. They come across a series of turns, flips, shootouts, and near-death encounters as they fight to survive and clear Max’s reputation.
Viewers wonder whether Owen and Max will survive their most recent predicament and whether The Recruit will come back with a fresh set of episodes after an unexpected ending cliffhanger. It’s a little too soon to tell if the program will return for a second season after the first weekend.
As you probably know, Netflix doesn’t publicly disclose the factors that determine whether a series is renewed or canceled, but there is a ton of information available on the metrics that influence renewal decisions.
The greatest method to increase the likelihood that the program will be renewed if you like it and want to see more of it is to commit to finishing it, then urge to do so as well. Has anyone from the team or the cast discussed season 2 so far? Alexi Crawley has said that there have been discussions or at the very least, a plan is in place.
The Recruit Season 2 Release Date
Series one dropped on 16th December 2022, so we won’t be expecting another season to drop for at least a year – making an early 2024 release date (or potentially December 2023) the most likely.
The Recruit review
Here is a breakdown of the show’s reviews, which are accurate as of December 19, 2022:
User rating on IMDb: 7.6
Score on RottenTomatoes for critics: 75%
Audience Score on RottenTomatoes: 87%
Metacritic score: 60
It’s reasonable to say that The Recruit reviews have exceeded expectations in that it’s drawing in the same type of viewership that made Crawley’s network series popular (at least in terms of expectations I had myself).
The Recruit season 2 expectations
Let’s quickly review what transpired in season 1.
The quest to send Max back to Russia continues in episode 8, “W.T.F.I.O.H.” (short for “Who the F*ck Is Owen Hendricks?”), and just when things appear to be drawing to a conclusion, issues develop. Additionally, Owen’s personal and professional lives clashed during this time.
Karolina shoots Max at the end of Season 1, but is she really dead? There’s little doubt that season 2’s central question will be resolved. The story is finally brought to a close with Owen invites Hannah to a meeting overseas.
The RadioTimes predicts that Noah Centineo, Aarti Mann, Colton Dunn, and Fivel Stewart will all be back for a second season. In the sense that “Owen Hendricks would be pushed into another high-stakes assignment, but this time he could be a little more prepped for the experience,” they make the same prediction that we do.
