The genre of black humor is becoming more popular because of the meaningful conversations it may spark. Black humor often deals with taboo or sensitive subject matter. It has become a common method for contemporary authors and filmmakers to confront social taboos. And Sky One’s Sick Note is only one of their attempts at black comedy. The series, directed by veteran Matt Lipsey, is formatted in a way that does the genre honor. It’s an attempt at dark humor that succeeds in making its audience laugh while discussing a serious topic.
The program is accessible to a global audience on Netflix in addition to its native network. The first air date was November 7th, 2017 on Sky One. The program was renewed and a second season was announced in April 2017, far before the launch of the first season. The issue now is whether or not there will be a third season of Sick Note. We’ll get into that subject later, but first, let’s review the show’s format briefly.
Sick Note Season 3 Renewal Status
There won’t be a Season 3 of Sick Note. The first episode of the dark comedy aired on Sky One on November 7, 2017, and the last one aired on August 16, 2018. Even before the first season had broadcast, it was renewed for a second. Despite Sick Note having 6.8 rating on IMDB and a 71% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, Sky One never announced a renewal for Season 3. It’s been nearly 3 years since the last episode, thus it’s reasonable to assume the program has been canceled.
The audience still has many unanswered questions regarding Daniel after the events of the second season. Unfortunately, Sick Note was canceled before it could provide its audience with a fitting conclusion. We will never know whether Daniel ever admitted fault and cleaned up his act.

Sick Note Plot
When we tell a falsehood, life might suddenly become much less complicated. Despite how appealing it is to think that you can get away with telling a white lie, the reality is that when things spiral out of hand, you have no choice but to do whatever it takes to keep the lie a secret. With this central premise in mind, Netflix’s Sick Note tells a compelling narrative. The protagonist, Daniel Glass, is a chronic liar. He has a difficult connection with his fiancée and is stuck in a dead-end career with an unyielding supervisor (Kanye West).
Daniel’s life seems hopeless before he gets diagnosed with oesophageal cancer, on top of being stuck in a miserable job with no prospects and a broken relationship. Daniel is encouraged to live in the now because of the improved treatment Glass is receiving as word of his illness spreads. In spite of his anger at having to endure a fatal illness, he finds a renewed will to keep living because of him.
When Daniel’s oncologist, Dr. Ian Glennis, tells him he was misdiagnosed and doesn’t have to count his days anymore, things take a surprising turn. Because of this, a malevolent thought forms in Daniel’s head. He may either return to his previous miserable existence, or he can continue to live under the false impression that his illness is not serious. Daniel chooses the second option. The falsehood he said, which appeared little at the time, set off a domino effect. He tells a falsehood to cover up another lie, and so on and so on. His inability to deceive convincingly drives him to break the law. Experience the thrill of being a fly on the wall as Daniel’s falsehoods lead to a terrible crime.
Sick Note Season 3 Release Date
The producers of Sick Note have chosen to end the show after two great seasons. The news was verified by streaming behemoth Netflix, which stated its disinterest in continuing the show for a second season. It’s quite uncommon for a show to be canceled after two successful seasons. Matt Lipsey, the film’s director, said he wished for a happier ending.
There have been whispers that the show might return shortly. It’s conceivable, but season two came out about four years ago. The series’ likelihood of returning is very low. Yet, everything is still possible at this point. It’s not too late; if there’s enough interest from viewers, the show may be renewed for a third season. Don’t worry, we’ll keep you posted on any developments.
