In 2020, Spain will release the web television limited series Patria, a historical drama. After the popularity of the first season, viewers can’t wait for Season 2 of Patria to premiere. Alea Media and HBO Latin America co-produced the series for HBO Europe. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Fernando Aramburu.
Aitor Gabilondo wrote and designed it. After one of their husbands was assassinated by the Basque militant group ETA, the two central women in the story grew apart. On September 27, 2020, HBO Europe, HBO Go, HBO Now, and HBO Max released the first two episodes of the eight-part series.
Patria Season 2 Release Date
Patria’s second season on HBO has not been renewed. Since the show was intended from the start to be a limited series with a clear conclusion, it is highly improbable that it will be renewed for a second season.
If the show becomes more popular than expected, though, HBO may change its mind and order further episodes. Los Vencejos (The Swifts), a sequel to Aramburu’s story, could serve as the basis for a second season. If HBO orders a second season of Patria, it won’t premiere until 2023 (at the earliest) due to scheduling constraints and the COVID-19 scenario.
Why was Patria Season 2 canceled?
Low ratings, lack of funding, creative differences, and shifts in the network’s programming approach are all possible explanations for the discontinuation of Season 2. The choice may have also been influenced by extraneous factors like the COVID-19 pandemic or schedule issues. While many alternatives exist, specifics are lacking at the moment. As soon as new information becomes available, we will post it here.
In Patria, we follow two Basque families at odds with one another during the height of the ETA uprising. The story depicts the fallout of an ETA attack on two families, which forces them to stop being friends.
In the course of the story, we witness the various families own their mistakes and apologize to one another. Patra strives to depict a tale of inner conflict that drives a wedge between loved ones in trying circumstances.

Patria Season 2 Plot
It would have seemed even great if Season 2 of Patria had been made available. This is because readers want an engaging story with well-rounded characters. The events of Season 1 take place in two different time periods. One is set in 2011 when Bittori goes back to her hometown after hearing that the ETA had called a ceasefire.
The occurrences leading up to and following Txato’s murder are detailed in the other timeline, which extends from 1989 to 2010. Bittori confronts Joxe Mari in prison at the end of the first season, demanding to know why he murdered her husband. Joxe Mari apologizes for what he did and says he did it at the direction of his superiors.
The police tormented him, he says, and now he has post-traumatic stress disorder. Bittori apologizes and expresses her concern about his health. Many storylines are left open at the end of the previous season. The storyline of Season 2 of Patria, however, is yet unknown. We will continue to update you when new information becomes available.
Patria Season 2 Trailer
Unfortunately, the answer is no. Since HBO decided not to renew the show after its first season aired in 2020, there will be no season 2 teaser. As a result, neither a second season nor a trailer for it will be made.
Patria Season 1 Rating
Fans and critics from all around the world praised Patria, which is extremely unusual. The show stands out as a compelling historical drama among the sea of remakes and mindless comedies.
After its premiere, the show quickly became one of HBO’s most popular due to its high rating (8.2 out of 10 on IMDB). It’s not unexpected that the miniseries was so well-made that 88% of people fell in love with it during the pandemic, as Google reports.
Where to watch Patria Season 2?
Season 1 of Patria may be viewed in the United States on HBO Max, in Latin America and the Caribbean on HBO Go, in Europe on HBO Europe, in Spain on HBO Latino, and Down Under on Stan. The entire series is also released on DVD and Blu-ray in various regions. If Patria returns for a second season, it will likely be made available via the same methods as the first.
Finally, we regret having to notify you that the much-anticipated second season of the web drama “Patria” has been canceled. Premiering on September 27, 2020, the first season was well-received by critics and viewers alike, earning an 8.2 rating. Many readers were looking forward to seeing where the story, which explored the repercussions of conflict and political violence in the Basque Country, went next.
