French crime thriller web series “La Mante” is now streaming on Netflix. The drama, which was developed by Alice Chegaray-Breugnot, Nicolas Jean, Grégoire Demaison, and Laurent Vivier and directed by Alexandre Laurent, centers on a police officer who enlists the help of his convicted serial killer mother in an attempt to apprehend a notorious criminal.
A fairly recent show, ‘La Mante’ debuted in September 2017 on French channel TF1 with its initial six-episode season. The show was then picked up by Netflix, where it debuted in October 2017 in France as a Netflix Original before rolling out internationally on December 30, 2017. The show’s frightening visual style and grim tale won over many critics, and ever since Season 1 concluded, fans have been waiting for confirmation of a second season. What follows is all we know about Season 2 of La Mante.
La Mante Season 2 Release Date
France’s La Mante is a TV show broadcast in French. First, it had its world premiere on the French streaming service TF1. Alexandre Laurent directed the film that he co-created with Alice Chegaray Breugnot, Nicolas Jean, and Gregoire Demaison. The topic of when the following season will be available inevitably arises once a given one has concluded. This time, the first season premiered a very long time ago, in 2017. If there is going to be another season, it would have been announced by now. However, there has been a lack of official updates regarding the premiere of Season 2 during the past three years.
In all likelihood, another season can be made in just three years. It would appear that this is the only season that La Mante has to offer. Fans of La Mante, this may be disappointing news. Without a shadow of a doubt, it has been well-received by both critics and viewers. The fact that it is dubbed in French, which many people find difficult to comprehend, is probably the only negative aspect. However, in the end, it is praised universally. Since we did not report that the show had been officially canceled, we are going to believe that the most recent announcement was correct.
La Mante Storyline
The drama takes place in the city of Paris and centers on the search for a serial murderer with a terrifying reputation. Dominique Ferracci, a police officer, discovers the body of one of the victims, who has been brutally abandoned on a sawmill, and knows at once that it is the work of The Mantis, a serial murderer who tormented France in the 1980s.
Ferracci figures out that the serial killer is a copycat after meeting The Mantis, whose actual name is Jeanne Deber, in the witness protection program of the French police. Since he has no other choice, Ferracci approaches Jeanne, who has been locked away for years, in isolation. Jeanne decides to assist the police and pledges to provide them with some very juicy information; however, she will only speak with her estranged son, Damien, a detective for the police department.
Hard-core undercover narcotics detective Damien is taken aback by the request, but he decides to help in the hunt for the serial killer who is still at large and may strike anywhere. However, Damien’s involvement in the case poses a threat to the stability of his marriage, and he is split between his professional responsibilities and his personal life.

La Mante Season 1 Review
La Mante (The Mantis in English), is a French criminal thriller told over the course of six episodes, with a well-written script and decent performances but doesn’t accomplish much to set itself apart from other crime thrillers. However, the violence is presented graphically, and there are some truly disturbing sequences.
Jeanne (Carole Bouquet), who plays the legendary Mantis, gives a performance that will freeze your bones, and she is just one member of the outstanding cast. La Mante’s first half, in particular, is quite well done, so it’s a shame that the show loses steam toward the conclusion.
While competent, La Mante lacks any truly original twists or turns. Although the violence and unexpected developments are entertaining, the film’s true strength lies in its acting. All of the actors do a great job, but Carole Bouquet stands out for how perfectly she captures her character’s unsettling demeanor. They have terrific on-screen chemistry with Fred Testot, who is just as good, and they propel the story along.
Although La Mante’s plot isn’t very novel, the surprises are nicely executed and complemented by some solid camerawork, the film falters in its last act. Those expecting a genre-defining work may be disappointed, but La Mante succeeds admirably as a standard criminal thriller despite failing to break any new ground.
