Inside out is an animated film from the creators of UP, released under the renowned banner, Disney-Pixar. The film revolves around an 11-year-old girl named Riley and the five emotions in her mind, i.e., Joy, Fear, Sadness, Disgust, and, Anger.
The movie is about how they navigate her through life while conflicting with each other as she adjusts to her new life in San Francisco.
Riley’s primary and most significant emotion, Joy, attempts to keep things in good condition, but the other emotions disagree over managing in a new city, residence, and school. Hence, turmoil erupts in the headquarters of her mind.
The headquarters in Riley’s mind is the control hub where these emotions live, work and monitor Riley’s daily life and guide her through.
The plot of this film revolves around their attempts to return to normalcy after an accident involving Riley’s good memories changes her entire attitude. Joy and Sadness hence try to find and return her memories to the headquarters before time changes her completely.
Pete Doctor conceived the idea behind this film while he observed his daughter maturing into teenagehood, which brought various characteristics, attitudes, and emotional changes. Various neuroscientists and psychologists were also consulted concerning the accurate portrayal of the mind’s headquarters and the different emotions involved.
This film was crafted for five and half years at an approximately $175 million budget. The hard work paid off with a box-office collection of $858.8 million. The film also won 2 Oscars in the Original Screenplay and Best Writing categories.
Despite being released six years back, its popularity and the need to produce its sequel are still present among the fans.
Despite rumors regarding the production and release of Inside Out 2, Disney-Pixar is yet to address or give an official announcement about the sequel. Nor is there any slight detection regarding it. While Pixar studios are busy with new projects, speculations are that the movie can hit the theatres by 2022 or 2023, but this news is neither affirmed nor dismissed. Therefore, it’s a 50-50 chance.
Reviewers and audiences highly welcomed the first installment of Inside Out, and its trailer also garnered many views from a large audience. As a result, everyone is anticipating a sequel soon, and hopefully, we might as well get one, fingers crossed.
