Behind Her Eyes Season 2: Will There Be Another Season?

The term “limited” can be interpreted in a variety of ways when referring to a series like Behind Her Eyes. A show’s producers may have only planned for it to air for one season, but if it becomes wildly popular, those plans will be scrapped. While it may be uncomfortable for viewers if the first season wraps up all of the storylines, it offers them a new incentive to tune in for the second season to see if the program can maintain its momentum (see: Big Little Lies). This is particularly true when a TV show is based on a novel, as is the case with the current Netflix original series Behind Her Eyes.

Stick with us here: in the season one finale of Behind Her Eyes, Louise discovers that “Adele” is actually Adele’s old friend Rob, who can transfer his consciousness into Adele’s body. When Louise discovers this power for herself, the entire dynamic of the show is turned on its head. Any potential second season of Behind Her Eyes would appear quite distinct from the first. This is all we know for sure about a potential second performance:

Behind Her Eyes Season 2 Renewal

There has been no official renewal announcement from Netflix, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed for a second season to make up for the shocking conclusion of the first. The conclusion is a topic for the next section. Unfortunately, the show’s first season used up most of its inspiration. Sarah Pinborough adapted her best-selling book of the same name into the film Behind Her Eyes.

The first season has been quite faithful to the source material. In light of this, the renewal of the show by Netflix would necessitate a totally new storyline. Big Little Lies and The Handmaid’s Tale are only two examples of this technique being used in the film. However, author Pinborough has stated that she is unaware of any Season 2 production plans.

Pinborough responded, “Not as far as I know,” adding: “I would be interested to see where they would take it, as it’s a pretty closed ending. But if it does well, you never know.”

Behind Her Eyes Storyline

At the beginning of the show, single mother Louise and the man who will become her new boss, David, enjoy a drunken kiss. Things get more complicated when David and Louise begin an affair and Louise becomes close with David’s wife, Adele. At the season finale, Louise discovers that “Adele” is actually Rob, who is able to mentally inhabit Adele’s body. In the end, Louise learns this skill on her own. Which changes everything for the better in the story.

When Louise gets it, Rob shifts his focus to her physical form, while she shifts hers to Adele’s. After killing Adele while posing as Louise, Rob takes over Louise’s life, marries David, and raises Adam in her stead. Although David initially believes Louise to be Rob, Adam eventually comes to terms with the fact that something is awry with his mother.

Behind Her Eyes Season 2 Expected Plot

Since the first season of Behind Her Eyes comes to a clear conclusion, it’s hard to speculate on what the second season will entail, although there is certainly potential for further development. Louise finds out at the end of the first season that Rob has always loved David and that “Adele” has actually been Rob projecting his consciousness into Adele’s body. But when Louise finds out the truth, Rob transfers his mind into hers and Louise’s mind into Adele’s.

After Louise in Adele’s body is murdered, Rob assumes her identity, marries David, and raises the couple’s kid, Adam. Until the season finale, Adam has no idea that Louise is actually Rob, but he is starting to sense that something is wrong with his mother. Season two may pick up in this state of limbo, but it’s hard to picture how that would work out at this point. Since Louise the character has been killed off, would the writers try to make us root for Rob as he lies to David and Adam, who is just eight years old?

Behind Her Eyes Season 2 Expected Release Date

The Netflix original series Behind Her Eyes was only ever meant to run for a single season. Given the show’s success, though, broadening its reach could only be beneficial. Netflix has not yet confirmed whether or not they will be renewing the show. But it’s reasonable to think there won’t be any more seasons.

Review

I haven’t wanted to binge-watch an entire season of a drama since the year 2021 began, and that’s saying something. This is a wonderful six-part series that seldom slows down in terms of its pacing, tension, or dramatic intensity. You’ll be on the edge of your seat throughout, and the performances will keep you there.
