Annika Season 2 Renewal Status
Annika’s second season was announced in August, and it would be co-produced by Masterpiece PBS, Alibi in the United Kingdom, and All3Media International.
Walker plays the lead role of Scotland’s Marine Homicide Unit in this police drama set in Glasgow. Murders have been occurring on Scotland’s waterways, and she and her crew are responsible for investigating them. Annika regularly addresses the audience directly, breaking the fourth wall to discuss the murders at hand, literature, and her experiences as a parent to her surly adolescent daughter Morgan (Silvie Furneaux).
We’re all looking forward to continuing our fight against crime with the MHU in Season 2, but Annika has some secrets closer to home that will eventually have to be confronted as well. Annika Season 1 Recap
The tale centers on Detective Inspector Annika Strandhed, a seasoned police officer from Norway who has recently been assigned to the Glasgow Marine Homicide Unit in Scotland to help solve the complex and unsolved crimes that have been occurring in Scottish waters. The majority of her coworkers are not thrilled with her new position. In the series, we see two Annikas: one as a detective who solves crimes, and another as the mother of a haughty adolescent girl.
Annika starts out the chapter by joining a group of hardworking police officers in her new position. The first one is already difficult. When a body is discovered in the Clyde, Annika and her team are called in to investigate. The harpoon hole in the man’s skull reveals how he met his untimely end. As soon as they begin their investigation, it becomes clear that the jilted lover is responsible. However, as darker truths are revealed, the case becomes more difficult to solve.
Meanwhile, to add further confusion to her mind, Morgan, her daughter, is expelled from school. A short time later, they are immersed in the murder investigation of a scientist whose body was discovered in Loch Katrine. The fact that both victims drowned suggests there is something very unpleasant in the water. The death of author Cara Gibson, whose works have derailed numerous careers and caused untold misery, is the next case she investigates. Under the bridge, her body was discovered.
Who, if anyone, is brave enough to shove her off the bridge to her death? The following case involves the death of a guy who was thrown from a party boat and into the water. He was having a party in honor of his wedding anniversary. But then things take an unexpected turn and his wife is the primary suspect in his murder. A young woman is found dead on the docks of Glasgow, and the squad is once again called in to investigate. Thus, it is interesting to see what Season 2 of Annika would bring in terms of storyline.
Annika Season 2 Expected Plot
Not much information regarding Season 2 of Annika is available at this time. However, PBS claims that in the upcoming episodes, DI Strandhed and her team will travel to cities like Edinburgh and Glasgow, as well as the Hebridean island of Jura, in order to solve crimes. Annika and Michael’s history together, presumably, will also be explored. In the season finale, she told Michael that he is Morgan’s father despite his ignorance of the fact.
In each episode, Annika draws parallels between the situation at hand and works of classic literature. There will be references to the works of authors including Robert Louis Stevenson, George Orwell, and Walter Scott in season 2.
