Agatha: Darkhold Diaries: Release Date, Cast, Plot, and Everything You Need to Know

Marvel Cinematic Universe viewers were treated to Jac Schaeffer’s WandaVision in 2021, the first of a new wave of Marvel programs streaming on Disney+. Reviewers were generally positive about WandaVision, praising the program for its homages to old TV shows and its commitment to historical authenticity.

It was even more well-received by fans, who flocked to social media every week to discuss the show’s plot points, gush over Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff and Paul Bettany’s Vision, and praise the show’s many entertaining side characters.

Kathryn Hahn portrayed one such figure, Agatha Harkness, the show’s last antagonist. Initially introduced as Wanda’s friendly but overbearing neighbor, Agatha (or Agnes) eventually revealed herself to be the witch Agatha.

Disney stated that Agatha would be receiving her program shortly after the episode ended airing, and her popularity skyrocketed because of her catchy theme tune. We now know all there is to know about Agatha thanks to the addition of several A-list actors and the completion of filming. Warlock Chronicles

Agatha: Darkhold Diaries Plot

Given that Agatha is at least several hundred years old, there was initial suspicion that Agatha: Darkhold Diaries may serve as a precursor to WandaVision. But the new teaser short and set photographs of a police truck and a shopping center have shown that the new series is set partially in modern-day Westview.

Joe Locke’s character seems to be getting a drink with Agatha in one of the photos. The reappearance of Dottie also increases the likelihood that the show will continue from where WandaVision left off.

By the conclusion of WandaVision, Agatha had become Wanda’s puppet and would never be able to escape her role as the obnoxious next-door neighbor. At this point, it seems that someone—Lilia? She may have been set free by Joe Locke’s character.

Will Wanda and the Darkhold still be a mystery when Agatha searches for them, only to discover they have been destroyed? Is Wanda’s true fate going to be revealed on Mount Wundagore? Given that the title of the book contains the word “Darkhold,” it’s not hard to see how these two questions may factor into the storyline.

Agatha: Darkhold Diaries Creators

Like the show’s characters, the identities of the show’s creators are being kept under wraps; however, WandaVision founder and executive producer Jac Shaeffer is back at the helm and writes and directs Darkhold Diaries. Matt Shakman, director of WandaVision, is not officially affiliated with the project as yet, but Kevin Feige, chief honcho of Marvel, will be producing it.

A bit more time will pass before we learn who exactly is developing the spinoff series. However, if the WandaVision production is any indication, we can anticipate that each episode will be credited to a different writer.
