After Life is a British comedy and drama TV show that was made and is directed by Ricky Gervais. This show is also written by Ricky Gervais. The show is made by Charlie Hanson, and Ricky Gervais and Duncan Hayes are the show’s executive producers. Ricky also plays the role of the main character. Six episodes made up the first season, which came out on Netflix on March 8. The audience had mixed feelings about the first season of After Life, but most of them were good. On Rotten Tomatoes, 73% of people liked the show as a whole.
Right after that, Netflix said that the show would be back for a second season. Six more episodes were added to Season 2 of After Life on April 24, 2020. 76% of people on Rotten Tomatoes seem to like the show. Ricky Gervais and Netflix made a deal for a final and third season of the show on May 6, 2020, right after Season 2 came out. The third season of After Life will come out on January 14, 2022. IMDb users have given the show an average score of 8.4/10.
After Life Season 4 Renewal Status
No, in a word. Ricky Gervais already surprised fans when he said After Life would have a third season since he had always said “quality over quantity,” especially when making fun of Steve Carell on The Office. Since it was announced that season 3 would air in the middle of 2020, Gervais has always shot down the idea of an After Life season 4. In his most recent round of press interviews, he told RadioTimes, “I’m 99% sure this should be it. I don’t think I can top that ending.” This pretty much rules out an After Life season 4, but gives fans the tiniest bit of hope.
What is After Life about?
The show is about a guy named Tony, who just lost his wife to a terrible illness. After that, he stopped caring about living because he felt like his life had no point. So far in the show, we’ve seen him go through many ups and downs emotionally as he fights to stay alive. Through his journey, the show looks at many philosophical questions, such as what life is all about, whether or not there is an afterlife, what it means to be good or bad, and what it means to be human.
Don’t be fooled by how serious and upsetting this all sounds, though. Yes, the show can make you cry because it talks about loss and how hard it is to keep living. On the other hand, sometimes it tends to make you laugh so hard that you’re crying happy tears. After Life combines both worlds in a way that makes for a plot that is universal and can be enjoyed by people all over the world.

After Life Season 4 Plot
We don’t know what Season 4 will be about yet, but we can expect to learn more about Tony’s journey as he tries to find happiness and healing. Fans also hope that Season 4 will answer some of the questions they still have from previous seasons and wrap up some of the storylines.
Ricky Gervais and Netflix are the ones who will decide whether there is going to be another season or not. But one thing is certain: no matter what comes next, fans of the show can’t wait for it to come back.
After Life Season 4 Release Date
We still think After Life could come back to the platform in a big way and surprise us all. If that really happens, we can expect Season 4 of After Life to come out in the winter of 2023. The trailer for the show will likely hit the internet at the end of the fall of 2023. No matter what, we know we won’t miss the 4th season of this very popular show.
What Ricky Gervais Has Said About After Life’s Ending
After Life ends, it finds a middle ground between being clear and being unclear. There’s no doubt that the end of season 3 wraps up the whole After Life story. Tamworth’s residents gather at the town fair for one last “happily ever after,” while Tony and Brandy the dog walk off into the distance, only to disappear as the seasons change. Even though there is a clear end to After Life, viewers aren’t sure what the last shot really means. Ricky Gervais has said more about After Life’s last scene. He told DigitalSpy, “It’s just that life goes on, you know? That’s what the ending is saying. ‘We all die, but not today.'”
Gervais’s comments suggest a happier ending for After Life than some viewers have thought (Tony probably doesn’t kill himself), but his explanation proves that the Tambury Fair was meant to end the show for good, no matter how the final shot is interpreted.
After Life Season 3 Review
After Life is a great show that shows how the ghost of grief stays with you and how difficult it is to move on. The first season, in particular, was a real masterpiece. It had just the right amount of drama, comedy, and laugh-out-loud jokes. While the second season kept that up and hinted at a possible romance with nurse Emma, the third season seems to be much more introspective. This makes sense since this is the last season of the show and all builds up beautifully to a final chapter that will hit you right in the gut. I won’t give anything away, but good luck getting through that one without crying!
This time, the story is about Tony, who is still trying to figure out what to do with his life after Lisa. At least for the first half of the season, his relationship with Emma is still a big topic of conversation. On the other hand, Tony’s strained relationship with Matthew is getting better as he and Matthew start to talk again. And making connections is the goal here.
There are also a few other plots going on in this, like James’s strange relationship with Brian. This is put to the test when the first person moves in with his friend, which his parents don’t seem to mind. Kath, who wants to find her own man, keeps going to drift through the season. This leads to her going on several first dates, each one being worse than the last. Lastly, the trouble that postman Pat has with Roxie is a running gag at the beginning of every episode.
After Life is easy to watch, but, like the first two seasons, it’s hard to watch it without getting emotional. It’s a series that shows how complicated grief is, how hard it is to get over the loss of a loved one, and how hard it is to keep living on this beautiful blue planet. After Life is a wonderful show that will be sorely missed, but what a lovely way to end this season.
