Hulu has a tradition of celebrating the month of October. For its “Halloween” celebration, the platform goes to great lengths to make its user interface fit the spooky spirit of the holiday. After being canceled by the streaming service for the next 2020 season, the topic of whether or not Monsterland will return for a second season is now pressing. The anthology series was a hit when it first premiered, and it attracted even more viewers during Halloween (or “Huluween”) of 2021.
After reading “North American Lake Monsters: Stories” by Nathan Ballingrud, Mary Laws was inspired to develop Monsterland. The eight episodes of this horror anthology series feature stories set in various locations around the United States. You can view the episodes in whatever sequence you wish, and each one features a different cast. If you’re looking for a scary story, this is a fantastic series to check out.
Monsterland Season 2 Renewal Status
The average time it takes for a streaming service like Hulu or Netflix to decide whether or not to renew a show is around a month. That’s plenty of time for the show to gain traction on social media and determine whether or not viewers are invested enough to demand more installments. Although several episodes of Monsterland may have confused viewers, the majority of the replies I’ve seen on social media have been favorable.
Monsterland Season 2 Release Date
Let’s pretend Hulu and the creators of the show decide to make a new season. It’s possible that Monsterland won’t be released until late 2023. Perhaps timed to coincide with the Halloween-themed “Huluween” event. It’s still conjecture since it’s been a whole year since the pilot episode. There has been no public announcement on this matter, as was previously reported. You may be sure that Otakukart will update you as soon as the show’s creators or Hulu make a formal announcement.
In addition, Monsterland is a very simple renewal for Hulu. Despite this, Monsterland’s source material is a rather small collection of short stories. There are plenty of additional short horror stories that could provide material for filmmakers.
Monsterland Storyline
The episodes of Monsterland can be viewed in any order, as the show is an anthology. Why? Because there is absolutely no continuity between the tales. In the first chapter, “Port Fourchon, LA,” Tony, a single mother, and waitress in Louisiana, introduces us to her difficult life. She has a difficult child and little money. The town’s one motel is booked solid when a mysterious visitor shows up in need of a place to stay. Later, he shows up at Toni’s place of employment, where he offers to pay her to talk, and at her house, where he tries to pay her even more to spend the night. Toni must balance the man’s obvious danger with the possibility of a financial reprieve.
Monsterland Cast
No information about the actors of Season 2 has been made public because it has not been given the go-ahead to film. If a second season is produced, however, the original cast members will be back for it.
The casting of Kaitlyn Dever and Jonathan Tucker was revealed in November 2019. The first episode will feature both of them. In February of 2020, “Evil” Mike Colter signed up with the team. Kelly Marie Tran and Taylor Schilling were rumored to have joined the cast in July of 2020. There was a press conference in August 2020 to announce the additions of Nicole Beharie, Adepero Oduye, Roberta Colidrez, Hamish Linklater, and Charlie Tahan (Ozark).
Monsterland Season 2 Plot
The second season of Monsterland will presumably continue to dissect the human psyche. Screenwriters will likely consider stories concerning the new normal in modern culture, even if the original episodes were made before the COVID-19 pandemic in North America. However, the creators of Monsterland season 2 might benefit from some out-of-the-box thinking when it comes to plot points that will help viewers escape from reality. Season 2 of Monsterland on Hulu will delve into both the past and the future, highlighting the psychological influences on the characters in the present.
