Spinning Out Season 2: Is It Happening?

Spinning Out, another American drama is not as well-known but still has a sizable following. The release date of Season 2 of Spinning Out is currently anticipated by fans. They are curious as to where the renewal process stands. What’s the deal with the renewal? The target audience would like the answers to these questions. It’s an American series that was made just for streaming on Netflix. The series, developed by Samantha Stratton, premiered on January 1, 2020, and consists of ten episodes, each running between 44 and 56 minutes.

There will be only one more season of the show. In the meantime, viewers are aching for Season 2. This post will reveal some information regarding the upcoming second season of Spinning Out. This show follows a young ice skater as she navigates the challenges of adulthood. Although it appears intriguing, the average rating on IMDb is merely 7.6 out of 10. In other words, it hasn’t exactly been a smashing critical or commercial triumph. Will the producers take the chance of airing a new season of Spinning Out if this happens? We can find out here.

Spinning Out Season 2 Renewal Status

The show was only on Netflix for a month before it was abruptly terminated. Fans have begged Netflix to change its mind, but it appears that the streaming service will not. Fans were left wondering what would become of Kat Baker (Kaya Scodelari) and bad boy Justin (Evan Roderick) at the close of season one, and it now appears that they will never find out.

The news will likely be devastating to the fans. Netflix, on the other hand, has a history of abruptly canceling shows whenever they see fit. The cause for the cancellation has not been revealed. It’s also important to remember that Netflix is always secretive about its viewing numbers, so it’s impossible to know for sure if the show underperformed and was canceled because of that.

Why was Spinning Out Season 2 canceled?

As is the case with cable television, low ratings are a safe bet anytime Netflix cancels a series, although the streaming service normally remains silent when doing so. In a story about Netflix’s decision not to renew Spinning Out, Deadline says, “Netflix, which goes straight-to-series on all of its shows, examines viewing (and awards recognition) vs. cost for each show when making a renewal decision.” Therefore, it’s entirely possible that Spinning Out’s 10 episodes weren’t watched by enough people to warrant paying for a second season.

The potential for “awards recognition” and, by extension, lots of bragging rights for Netflix makes that statement interesting as well, suggesting that a low-rated show might still be renewed for a second season. The streaming service probably didn’t see any use in continuing the series after it received a 59 percent rating on the Tomatometer.

Spinning Out Storyline

Viewers found themselves immersed in the drama, and the romantic subplot between leads Justin and Ket was well received. Kate fell in love with him after being impressed by his talented bad-boy persona; he supported her throughout the journey despite being unaware that she suffered from bipolar disorder; she had hoped to compete in the Olympics but had run into financial trouble and physical setbacks, and she needed someone to help her overcome these obstacles.

Spinning Out Season 2 Expected Plot

In the first season of Spinning Out, when Kat and Justin’s first start skating together, their instructor Dasha (Svetlana Efremova) thinks they have a year to go before they’re ready for the Olympic track. When they finish eighth in their regional short program, it looks like they’ve already failed. Kat, however, decides to forego her lithium in favor of increased energy and self-assurance. She and Justin increase their score by adding challenging jumps to their long program, but Kat swiftly descends into a manic episode when she forgets to take her bipolar medicine.

Kat and Justin persevere through all of the challenges they face to participate in sectionals, and their routine at the competition seems to begin from a place of trust and comfort for the two of them. We shouldn’t anticipate them to start season 2 having failed to qualify for nationals, thus they should move up in competition levels throughout the season. Competitors Leah (Kaitlyn Leeb) and Gabe (Johnny Weir), whom Justin and Kat face off against frequently, will also be present at the Olympics. Is Kat going to be able to handle the pressure of the competition, or will she relapse and stop taking her medication?

Spinning Out Season 2 Release Date

All ten episodes of the first season debuted on the same day, January 1, 2020. So, nearly a year and a half have passed since the end of season one. Season 2 of Spinning Out has yet to be released, though. According to the low number of viewers and fans, Netflix has decided not to produce a second season. We can only hope it never happens again till then. Netflix will always renew a show if it was popular with its subscribers. Unfortunately, Netflix was hoping for more from this show. Therefore, it’s highly doubtful that there will be a new season of Spinning Out.
