The American anthology true crime series American Crime Story was created by Larry Karaszewski and Scott Alexander. Along with Brad Simpson, Brad Falchuk, Nina Jacobson, Ryan Murphy, Dante Di Loreto, and others, Karaszewski and Alexander serve as executive producers for the show.
It’s the follow-up to the critically acclaimed 2012 film American Story. Each season stands on its own as a sort of miniseries that doesn’t connect to the others in any way. The show premiered on February 2, 2016, and it will continue for another two seasons, ending in 2021. When, exactly, will we be able to watch Season 4? What happens? Who, if anyone, will reprise their roles? If you want to find out more, read on.
American Crime Story Season 4 Renewal Status
Fans of American Crime Story, rejoice: the drama will return for a fourth season, with a new true-crime story to be the show’s central emphasis. Deadline reports that production has begun on a new season that will explore Studio 54 and the fortunes (and fall) of its founders, Steve Rubell, and Ian Schrager.
An August quote from Murphy reads: “When I was a child in Indiana, getting the Liz Smith column in the Indianapolis Star, reading about it, I’m like, ‘Oh! Please take me there.
I think it’s great. My favorite era and location. However, I can’t help but see it as a tale of excess and of two men who went too far in pursuit of their ideals. Ian Schrager is a brilliant artist, in my opinion. “It’s an interesting story to tell through the prism of American Crime Story,” he said.
American Crime Story Storyline
The anthology series American Crime Story is based on actual crimes and delivers them to television audiences. There have been three seasons of the show so far. So far, the show has covered the O. J. Simpson murder trial, the assassination of fashion icon Gianni Versace by Andrew Cunanan, and the Clinton-Lewinsky controversy. Both the broad strokes and the finer points of these tales are presented in the series.
American Crime Story season 4 cast
We don’t yet know who will play Steve Rubell and Ian Schrager on American Crime Story because FX hasn’t made any official casting announcements. Given her history of guest-starring on previous Ryan Murphy shows like American Horror Story, Nip/Tuck, Feud, and Ratched, it wouldn’t be shocking to see Sarah Paulson in this one as well.
American Crime Story Season 4 Story
Deadline reports that a new season will explore the rise and fall of Studio 54’s founders Steve Rubell and Ian Schrager. The release date of Season 1 of American Crime Story: Studio 54 is unknown. Considering the two-to-four-year wait time between seasons of the prior series. The dates may have been impacted by the pandemic. After ten gripping episodes, the true-crime drama featuring Sarah Paulson and Beanie Feldstein is coming to an end in the United States, and fans are getting ready for the series finale.
The show’s creator, Ryan Murphy, is actually going back to a time period he explored extensively in another of his works. A trip back to 1970s New York nightclubs, drugs, sex, and tax fraud was announced for ACS in August 2021. Studio 54, the legendary New York City nightclub, will be the show’s primary setting for the upcoming season.
The fourth season of American Crime Story will focus on the business partners Steve Rubell and Ian Schrager, who made their Manhattan club into a glamorous hotspot. When Studio 54 opened its doors for the first time in 1977, it quickly became notorious for its star-studded clientele, exclusive apartments, and heavy drug usage.
American Crime Story Season 4 Release Date
Since we’ve had to wait anywhere from two to four years for prior series, it’s difficult to pinpoint exactly when Studio 54: American Crime Story will debut on our televisions. It took two years for The Assassination of Gianni Versace to premiere on television after The People v. O.J. Simpson did so, and four years for Impeachment to do so (albeit the coronavirus pandemic likely slowed down production).
Given the show’s track record, the soonest we can hope for Season 4 to premiere is in November 2023. Thankfully, production on the show has already begun, so perhaps we won’t have to wait too long.
