Whenever it comes to horror, there aren’t many writers who can match the mood of Stephen King’s books, and Mr. King is one of them. “Lisey’s Story” is a horror drama miniseries based on Stephen King’s award-winning novel of the same name. It was directed by Pablo Larrain. Even though the story is about Lisey, there are stories within stories that make up a complex web of memories. So, the story goes back and forth between a forgotten past and an unknown future.
Lisey’s dreams and destiny keep coming back to her, and Jim Dooley, a dangerous fan of her late husband, the author, is a grave threat. The Apple TV+ original psychological thriller takes you by surprise at the end because it has a great cast and is shown in a slow-burning way. After the season finale’s cliffhanger, fans must be wondering if there will be a second season. If you want to know what’s going on, let us tell you what we know.
Lisey’s Story Season 2 Renewal Status
Lisey’s Story has not been picked up for a second season as of yet. It was first planned and made as a miniseries that would tell the whole story of Stephen King’s book. This didn’t leave much space for an additional season. But, as has been shown many times, that didn’t stop Hollywood from giving the show another season if it’s popular and getting good ratings. That, on the other hand, is less clear. The reviews for the miniseries were mixed, but since Apple+ is still pretty new and needs content to beat out the competition, a second season of Lisey’s Story could happen if Apple notices enough people watching to give it the go-ahead.

Lisey’s Story Season 2 Expected Plot
As was already said, Lisey’s Story told the whole story of Stephen King’s book, so anything in Season 2 would be totally different. Even so, there are sufficient plots to explore if a second season is made. First, the limited series showed how Lisey, who was sad, tried to keep a few memories from coming back to her. It would be intriguing to see how she would manage another horrific situation now that she has, if not completely healed, at least let go of a few of her sadness.
The way the Debusher sisters talked to each other was one of the most interesting things about the series. They were sometimes rude to each other, but at the end of the day, they really cared about each other. A lot of interesting story ideas could come from seeing the three of them work together from the start to confront an unfamiliar supernatural (or human) threat and learn more about Boo’ya Moon’s mysteries.
Lisey’s Story Season 2 Release Date
It’s not clear when a possible second season of Lisey’s Story might come out. The first season’s filming started in October 2019, but they had to stop because of the COVID pandemic. Julianne Moore confirmed that they finished filming in September 2020. That left at least nine months for post-production work, even though some of it was probably done before the shutdown.
This was needed because the Boo’ya Moon scenes have a lot of VFX. If Apple decided to give the Stephen King adaptation another season, it would probably do so in the next few months. But depending on when the show is shot and when it airs, season 2 of Lisey’s Story might not come out until mid-2023.

Lisey’s Story Season 1 Review
Lisey’s Story is a thriller that mixes recovery, mystery, revenge, and horror into a story about the secrets Lisey’s husband has been keeping from her ever since he died. Scott Landon is the name of Lisey’s husband, who is also an author. Scott’s disturbed childhood and mysterious personality are only made worse by the fact that, after he dies, he sends Lisey on a “bool hunt.” This is basically a treasure hunt, and Lisey has to go down a dangerous and dark path to find out the truth. But she’s not the only one who wants to do this.
Lisey tries to learn more about Scott’s past, a strange fantasy world called Boo’Ya Moon, and a monster called the Long Boy who eats souls. Lisey gets the answers she’s been looking for, and she learns further about her sister Amanda, who is in a catatonic state, at the same time. Lisey’s Story has some fantasy elements, but it is mostly a slow-burning supernatural healing drama that focuses on the ideas of accepting loss and moving on to make one’s own life better. It’s a very sweet thought, but this show sure makes you wait for the payoffs.
The hour-long finale is one of the better episodes here, but it’s not enough to make up for the fact that getting these answers has been a long, hard journey through the weirdness. Even then, the answers we get, while satisfying, aren’t quite enough to make the journey worth it. It’s especially disappointing because the quality of the characters is all over the place. None of them are particularly charismatic, and the paths they take, which include some forced, illogical choices at the end, make it hard to care about most of their endings.
