One of the most highly anticipated new releases of 2018 is Doona!, a Korean drama series coming to Netflix. The plot follows Bae Suzy and Yang Se-jong as two college students, one of whom discovers that his roommate is a former K-pop star. Their chemistry assures a swoon-worthy watch as their relationship develops and they fall in love as time goes on. The launch of the nine-episode series occurred on October 20, 2023, Korean Standard Time.

About Doona
Lee Won-Joon, a college student, moves into a home with a retired K-pop star named Lee Doo-Na, and they quickly become close. Despite a rocky beginning, she eventually grows to appreciate Won-Joon for who he really is: a kind and innocent young man. Their relationship develops over time, and their connection gets stronger as a result. He makes an effort to spend more time with her in honor of her birthday.
When others are looking at Doo-Na, she feels threatened. Won-Joon and Jin-Joon, his high school sweetheart who he still has love for, are among her roommates who help apprehend the stalker. Won-Joon and Jin-Joon try unsuccessfully to rekindle a fire that was never allowed to fully ignite. Meanwhile, he and Doona begin to attract attention.
When she kisses him, things get uncomfortable. He confronts her about it at a later time. Meanwhile, Jin-Joon and his new roommates move in. As she and Won-Joon travel together, their relationship blossoms. Won-Joon, meantime, explains his emotions to Jin-Joon. His relationship with Doo-Na had its ups and downs, and now that they’re going their own ways, they’re both succeeding professionally at the price of their friendship.

Doona Ending Explained
Jin-ju and Won-jun finally reconnect after four years, and Jin-ju shares the news that she has kept in contact with Doo-na, who is about to release her new album. At the shared residence, the pals get together for the last time. However, Doo-na cannot be located. After telling his pals that he’s finally calmed down, he heads back to the home to get his jacket and runs into her.
She confronts Won-jun about their breakup and demands an apology from him. Won-jun says he feels bad about what he did. In only a few short years, Won-jun has risen to the ranks of the nation’s elite test takers for civil service positions. In the meanwhile, Doo-na’s star continues to rise. Time passes, and the two go their own ways.
In the film’s climactic sequence, Doo-na attends an event in Japan, where she is met by a wildly enthusiastic throng. Concurrently, Won-jun is also there, and the two eventually run into each other. Doo-na seems to get a glimpse of Won-jun as she turns around. But he continues on going, showing that he has progressed in his life.
There’s a melancholy conclusion to the tale. It calls to mind what Doo-na first claimed, that she and Won-jun lived in separate worlds. The conclusion of the series is left vague. It’s not clear whether they celebrated their victory by getting together. However, they will always remember each other fondly.

Based on what we’ve seen so far, it seems like he’s willing to risk it all for love once again. The trailer is quite soothing and pleasant, concentrating on the nice moments that develop between Won-jun and Doo-na. Of all, we all understand there is never a perfect relationship in a K-drama.

The show’s casting decisions were spot-on. Because of her former Miss A status, Suzy is able to convincingly portray the mysterious Lee Doona, and her portrayal of the character’s claustrophobia and anxiety in her own home is as strong as her chemistry with Yang Se-jong. This developed into a lively dynamic at first, full of humorous back-and-forth between them, but it soon devolves into melodrama.
It’s not hard to watch every episode of the series if you get into it. But despite its slice-of-life elements, it doesn’t necessarily bring out a satisfactory cathartic ending, and that’s not due to how the series concludes, but because the duration ends up becoming involved in slipping back into the romantic track. Because of the performers portraying them, the anguish is effective; yet, the script makes the love story a side plot rather than an integral element of the characters’ development.
