When calamity occurs and 27-year-old Tore loses the greatest important person in his life in a tragic refuse truck accident, he endeavours to conceal his overwhelming sorrow.
During the day, he continues to perform his duties during his father’s funeral home, concealing his grief as if nothing had happened while simultaneously flirting with Erik, the new florist.
Yet, as night falls, he seeks refuge on a party boat in the city, and there he immerses himself within a world of alcohol, sex, and narcotics, venturing for the first time into these uncharted waters.
Tore’s transformation grows evident to those that care about him amidst the allure of this new and beguiling, albeit perilous, existence.
As his best friend and coworkers at the funeral home observe Tore teetering on the edge of self-destruction in a futile attempt to escape the devastating reality of his loss, they grow increasingly concerned.
Eleven years later, Sarah continues to refuse to believe that her daughter is deceased. In a retail center several miles from her residence, she witnesses a girl whom she perceives to be strikingly similar to Alice, and she faints in astonishment.
Later, she informs her spouse, who insists that Alice is deceased and rejects Sarah’s beliefs. After several hours in waiting, Sarah returns to the center, discovers the girl, and then follows her to her estate apartment.
The next day, Sarah returns to the estate, confronts the girl and her stepfather, Stephen Turner, and is arrested following a physical altercation. On the property, she receives a warning that she ought not to approach the girl as well the family again.
On the way out, she encounters Lori and her mother, Joanne Taylor (Nicola Walker), who reveals that she has finally given in and permitted her daughter to receive a tattoo on her upper right arm.
Bridges questions Sarah if Alice had all distinguishing marks as well as is told that she had a small birthmark upon her arm, purportedly in the same location as Lori’s tattoo. Bridges believes this to be an excessive compensation for the “ordeal”
