The Rising of the Shield Hero, also known as Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari, is a dark fantasy isekai anime based on the same-named light book series by Aneko Yusagi and Seira Minami. The series follows Naofumi Iwatani, a regular Japanese otaku who is recruited to serve as a Cardinal Hero for the kingdom of Melromarc in a parallel universe. He has been given a formidable shield and the responsibility of defending the kingdom against the onslaught of monsters from other dimensions. The Isekai series, which debuted on January 9, 2019, was an instant success.
Unfortunately, the second installment of the anime has not been as well received as the first, being panned by critics for its lackluster writing, formulaic plot, and boring combat scenes. After seeing the season two conclusion for the first time, fans are probably curious about the show’s renewal and potential return. If you’re a fan of the show with similar interests, then you’re in good hands with us.

The Rising of the Shield Hero Storyline
Legends tell of four supernatural heroes who prevented disaster after disaster from befalling the land. Melromarc, concerned about the fate of humanity, issues a rallying cry, and the legendary figures who answer his call show up in modern-day Japan without knowing where they came from. Naofumi Iwatani, an otaku in Melromarc, earns the moniker “Shield Hero” because of his apparent lack of offensive prowess and expertise.
He encounters the beautiful princess Myne Melromarc just before setting off on his adventure with the other heroes, and she is the only agreeable travel companion he finds. But she soon turns on him, accusing him of using her for his money and then betraying him. Naofumi is a social outcast and a criminal with multiple charges against him. He sets out on his journey alone, pledging vengeance on those who have mistreated him.

The Rising of the Shield Hero Season 3 Plot
Light book volumes 6–9 were covered in Season 2, therefore it’s possible that the story will continue in Season 3. Several chapters from Volume 10 were converted into the first season, however, the Wrath Dragon and Fallen Heroes arcs were left out. Since Season 2 was panned for being too slow, Season 3 may also adjust the number of volumes it animates. However, until a teaser is released, we still don’t know which stories will be used.
Naofumi hopes to acquire more slaves and bolster his army in anticipation of the resurrection of other spirits. Naofumi and his group will have to travel to Zeltobe, where many people from Lurolona village have been sold into slavery, in order to achieve their goal.
Naofumi, Raphtalia, and Filo will enter a hidden underground battle arena under false identities. The “Fallen Hero Arc” of Season 3 of Shield Hero will have Naofumi trying to track down the remaining three heroes so that they can form a unified front against the waves, as hinted at in the teaser.
