The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Season 5 Plot
The end of season 4 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel gives us a clear picture of what will happen next: Midge is finally will leave her career behind. Lenny, who had just played at Carnegie Hall, tells the woman straight out to stop becoming afraid of failing and take advantage of all the chances that come her way.
No one knows how this will play out, but we’d bet that she’ll do a show at Carnegie Hall or somewhere else with a lot of attention. Maybe a place to live? Any way you look at it, that seems to be the end of Midge’s story, even though there’s still this same question about her relationship with Lenny. Amy Sherman-Palladino told The Hollywood Reporter that knowing season 5 would be the last and that there was only so much ground to play on made it easier to do things with Lenny on a personal level.
“Frankly, it felt like that fit with Midge’s journey, because she’s so determined to discover the right path for herself, even if she’s wrong, and this mission she set for herself this year. She felt like, ‘It’s my method or the highway.'”
Rachel told Laverne Cox on the E! show Live from Red Carpet in September 2022 that she “absolutely had no idea” how the season would end. “I don’t know where we’re going, and I’m both scared and happy. I know it’s going to be great. She said, “These guys would then know how and where to land it.” Rachel was able to hint that the last season was “getting juicy” and that there were only two episodes left.
In the last season, you’ll be seeing more of Midge as well as Lenny. “It’s so much fun for Luke and me to work together. We’ve had dreamy scene after dreamy scene together. So, there’s more to come,” Rachel told Collider in April 2022.
“We are sure that Amy and Dan are just as good and capable as they have always been. They know when to end their story and how to get us back home. So, we’re just looking forward to getting the final scripts. … It’s bittersweet, for sure, but mostly sweet.”
Season 5 also will keep showing Midge’s path to becoming a comedy star. “Like the remainder of the show, it focuses more on the journey and the process of getting there… “Midge’s star is going to rise for sure,” she told Extra. She also said, “Things might be a bit athletic for us this season, and I don’t mean sexually. I mean athletic.”
With The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’s fifth and final season coming up, we hope Midge’s comedy career will continue to grow as she gets over being fired by Shy Baldwin throughout season 4. In episode six, Mei Lin (Stephanie Hsu) tells Joel (Michael Zegen) that she’s pregnant. As they attempt to make their new family work, their relationship will be explored more in the last season.
