Based on Lev Grossman’s 2009 novel of the same name, The Magicians is one of Syfy and Netflix’s most well-known fantasy shows. Critics and fans had conflicting reactions to the fourth film in the series, but the overall reception was good because to the efforts of series creator Sera Gamble, director John McNamara, and an outstanding cast. Is Season 6 of The Magicians in the works? What we know thus far is as follows:
The Magicians Season 6 Renewal Status
Many people are disappointed that The Magicians will no longer air on Syfy. The last episode of the fifth season was the series finale. Unfortunately, this means that season six will not be happening. Lev Grossman served as a consultant on the initial television adaptation of the novels by Sera Gamble and John McNamara.
Each of the two seasons, which premiered in 2016, included thirteen episodes. Most viewers kept watching The Magicians despite the backlash, but Syfy has pulled the plug. Syfy released a statement thanking the show’s creators, cast, writers, directors, and crew for their tremendous work throughout the course of the show’s five seasons. The broadcaster was also appreciative of the viewers.
Sera Gamble and John McNamara discussed the cancellation in an interview, but the statement offered no further context. McNamara said Gamble continued by saying they had a feeling that Syfy was approaching the stage where the cup was full and there was not any more capacity coming into this season, referring to the network’s financial concerns.
The Magicians Season 6 Release Date
Syfy has confirmed that the upcoming fifth season will be the final one. Since Syfy has canceled future episodes of The Magicians, it’s clear that there will be no confirmation of a season 6 premiere. So, it’s official: The Magicians won’t be back for season 6, disappointing fans everywhere. It is uncertain since a proper and obvious justification for this choice has not been given. In addition, on April 1, 2020, after five highly successful seasons, the show was canceled.
The Magicians Storyline
Throughout the course of his training at Brakebills University for Magical Pedagogy, Quentin Coldwater (Jason Ralph) learns that the magical world depicted in his beloved childhood novel is real and constitutes a threat to humanity. Meanwhile, his childhood buddy Julia’s life is turned upside down when she is turned away from school and goes on the hunt for magic elsewhere.
Sera Gamble spoke to THR about Season 4’s main character, Jason Ralph, and his impact. It’s not that The Magicians wraps up Quentin’s story. That Quentin Coldwater has died on the program that Jason Ralph is no anymore a series regular, and how the story will develop as a result.

The Magicians Season 6 Plotline
There were many loose ends at the end of Season 5 of The Magicians, and it would have been exciting to see what the writers had in mind for the characters and plot in Season 6. It’s impossible to guess what the ending would have been like, but it probably involved Julia’s rise to power, Margo and Fray teaming up to fight monsters, and Alice assuming the throne as High King. Whether or not Alice and Quentin will reconcile is likewise unknown. Fans who desire resolutions to these plots will never receive them.
