This miniseries was adapted from Rebecca Jarvis’s podcast of the same name, which focused on the story of Elizabeth Holmes, the founder of Theranos. The plot is inspired by the true tale of Elizabeth Holmes and her company, Theranos.
All of Elizabeth’s deception and the fundamental distinction between science and business is laid bare in this episode. The miniseries only came out this year, but it already has a sizable following. The television series has a very high IMDb rating of 7.5, proving that it is well-worth viewers’ time. Even the show’s detractors have nothing but praise for it. The Dropout Storyline
The miniseries focuses on Elizabeth Holmes and the rise and fall of her firm Theranos over the course of seven episodes. Theranos was created in 2002 by Elizabeth Holmes, who left college to pursue her goal of bringing about a biotechnology revolution.
After her initial plan to create a patch that would scan the body for deadly infections and problems in the human body failed, she came up with a new plan that would use a single drop of blood to test various tests of deadly diseases. This plan was widely funded by investors and other institutions, and she quickly rose to prominence as a potential market disruptor.

Rotten Tomatoes and the critical consensus agree that The Dropout works better as a docudrama than a dark comedy, although the film benefits from Amanda Seyfried’s unsettling performance as Elizabeth Holmes. Critics gave the show an 89% average rating, while viewers gave it a 72% average rating. IMDb estimates that the series will get a 7.5/10 and around 4.2K ratings.
The Dropout Reviews
While the story of Elizabeth Holmes is well known, this series explores the drive that allowed her to grow into a self-made millionaire and ensure her continued success at any cost. I was captivated by Holmes’s infectious energy and amazed by her ability to pull it off.
The authors succeed in making Holmes fascinating thanks to all her faults and peculiarities. In particular, I first mistook Seyfried for Elizabeth Holmes because of how well she portrayed Holmes. I’m curious to see how far the show goes in exploring the mind of a person whose dreams have been dashed and who would resort to any means, no matter how damaging, to make it in the high-tech corporate jungle.
