In May of 2016, AMC premiered ‘Preacher,’ a live-action version of the comic book series of the same name by Garth Ennis. And it’s gone a long way since it first aired. The narrative opened with the introduction of Jesse Custer, a heavy smoker and drinker who is bestowed with extraordinary abilities during a time of need. With the help of his ex-lover Tulip and his vampire friend Cassidy, he sets out to learn more about God and his new ability.
The four seasons that have aired thus far have seen Jesse, Tulip, and Cassidy leaving Annville far behind, seeking God, finding the Holy Grail, meeting the Messiah and Jesus, venturing into Hell, and ultimately facing the end of the world. God was fatally wounded at the conclusion of the fourth installment. Does this last episode also signify the end of the series? I say we find out.
Preacher Season 5 Renewal Status
The chances of Preacher returning for a fifth season in its present form are low. The decision to cancel Preacher was never explained formally, but there are other variables at play. Nielsen data (through TVSeriesFinale) shows a steady decline in viewership over the years. Season 4 of Preacher was the first time that the program’s viewership slipped below half a million viewers. This was despite the fact that the previous two seasons of the show fared well, routinely surpassing the one million mark. While not abysmally low compared to other AMC properties, Preacher’s viewership is the reason for worry due to the established fan base of the comics and the constant fall.
Why was the show canceled?
There has been no official word on why the program was axed. Nonetheless, there are a few possible explanations for why that occurred. The ratings were a factor. The popularity of the Preacher gradually dwindled. The first two seasons went rather well, with total viewers exceeding a million, but after that, things started to go downhill. By the end of the fourth season, less than 500,000 people had watched. When compared to other shows on AMC, this was shockingly low.
The departure of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg from Sony to Lionsgate was another factor in its termination. The pair’s production firm found a new home after hearing that Preacher would not be returning for a fourth season. The tale was the last and last factor in this decision to cancel. Season four adapted the comic’s last plot, “Alamo,” despite the fact that the program has already skipped over a number of arcs and characters. This means that the fifth season won’t have nearly as much going on as the previous ones.

Preacher Season 5 Plot Expectations
The finish of Season 4 was satisfying. The renewal for Season 5 was completely wiped out. However, given how the fourth season concluded, we may assume that, if a fifth season does really materialize, it would take a completely different tack. A little of a rehashed version is in demand today, whether it be music or drama, therefore we need to choose a fresh narrative by not following the green that comic book covers include.
Jesse Custer, a preacher with poor habits (he smokes and drinks excessively and is in a constant state of inebriation), is the protagonist of the novel. In reality, he is on a spiritual quest. In the series’ conclusion, he put his newfound superhuman abilities to good use. We will update this area as soon as any official news is published by the creators, even though there are still many questions that require answering for the next phase.
Preacher Season 5 Release Date
Season 4 of ‘Preacher’ debuted on AMC on August 4, 2019. On September 29, 2019, the show’s tenth and last episode aired. When the fourth season of that program was announced, it was also revealed that it would be the last in the series. Executive Producer Seth Rog,n announced the series’ cancellation on his Instagram account. He wrote, “Preacher’s fourth and last season is on the horizon. That was one crazy journey. I appreciate it.
Season 5 of ‘Preacher’ has been canceled at this time. Fans of the program have been wondering for years whether or not a new season would be made available. After all, the emergence of competing streaming platforms in recent years has resulted in a number of reboots, some of which are presently in production. The chances of a new season of ‘Preacher’ — at least in its present form — happening are low.
Will Preacher Season 5 ever happen?
The Preacher’s cancellation has been in effect for four years. The likelihood of a fifth season of Preacher is, therefore, low. It’s very unlikely, but not impossible. The program might be brought to life again by another creative mind working on an adaptation. There is a sizable readership for the Preacher comics. Therefore, a Preacher film may be made in the future if a series doesn’t happen.
