Now that the first season of Peacemaker has concluded, here is all we know about the upcoming second season. John Cena’s Christopher Smith, also known as Peacemaker, was introduced to viewers in The Suicide Squad, James Gunn’s entry into the DC Extended Universe. Gunn had always planned to go more into Cena’s DC persona before the movie came out. Peacemaker, an eight-episode original series, was promptly greenlit by HBO Max and became the first TV project in the DCEU. James Gunn has assumed control of the DCU after unveiling his blueprint for the first DCU story arc, “Gods and Monsters.”
After the events of “The Suicide Squad,” Smith was discharged from the hospital and recruited to a new Task Force X unit, which is where the first season of “Peacemaker” begins. The Suicide Squad’s Jennifer Holland and Steve Agee, as well as Amanda Waller’s daughter Leota Adebayo and a mystery commander named Clemson Murn (Chukwudi Iwuji), were among those on the roster. Peacemaker Season 2 is confirmed
WarnerMedia and HBO Max have already confirmed season two of Peacemaker. The creator James Gunn and actor John Cena broke the news on social media the night before the series finale of Peacemaker aired. According to reports from The Digital Fix, Gunn will write and direct all seven episodes of the upcoming second season of Peacemaker, which will include the now-famous dance scene.
What is Peacemaker all about?
James Gunn’s Suicide Squad spawned a sequel, Peacemaker. The writer/director also penned the script and oversaw the majority of the episodes. John Cena plays the role of Peacemaker, which he originated in DC Films’ The Suicide Squad, on the program. According to the show’s synopsis, it takes place after the events of Suicide Squad.
Cena’s Christopher Smith, alias Peacemaker, was injured during the events of The Suicide Squad and is now in the hospital. Project Butterfly, a shadowy A.R.G.U.S. black operations unit, coerces him into joining. They have been given the unenviable task of eradicating the butterfly-like parasites that have taken over the bodies of people all around the planet.
Peacemaker Season 2 Plot Speculation
As of April of 2023, we have no clue what Gunn has planned for the second season of Peacemaker. To attempt to guess where Gunn would take things would be like trying to anticipate that season 1 will be about extraterrestrial butterflies taking over the globe.
But there are still some loose ends from the first season that need to be addressed. The first is the fact that despite the fact that Peacemaker abused Chris and his brother, he still feels guilty over murdering his father, Auggie. In the last episode, Peacemaker violently acts out after having a hallucination of his father berating him. This may or may not be addressed in the next second season.
The consequences of Adebayo’s choice to go public with the situation at Belle Reve are also a factor. It’s probable that Amanda Waller will be embarrassed by the exposure of the Suicide Squad’s plot. Possibly the team who tarnished Waller’s reputation will fall under her wrath. The fact that her own daughter betrayed her may reduce her need for retribution, but with Waller, you can never know.
Peacemaker Season 2 Predicted Release Date
There is no set date for the release of Season 2 of Peacemaker, despite the show’s renewal for a second season. It is common knowledge that there will be a long wait for the show’s return than is typical for television (particularly for series as popular as this one). Gunn has been keeping himself busy with his work on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 for Marvel Studios, and he has also announced (via Small Screen) that he will finish filming Waller before beginning work on Peacemaker. As a result, we probably won’t see the return of the popular DCU series until 2024.
