When the original Now You See Me movie came out in 2013, audiences had varied reactions to the fast-paced magical mystery that had elements of a money-heist tale. Though it was reminiscent of a watered-down version of Christopher Nolan’s The Prestige, the return of most of Now You See Me’s ensemble cast was exciting for moviegoers. The real issue today is whether or not the Four Horsemen, a group of renowned illusionists, will make a third appearance in theaters. Learn more about Now You See Me 3 by reading on.
Now You See Me 3 Release Date
There has been no word regarding a third film in the franchise since 2016’s Now You See Me 2. No official release date has been confirmed as of yet, so fans will just have to wait and see.
The franchise announced in 2022 that Ruben Fleischer will helm the third film in the series. Both films had different directors; Louis Leterrier for the first and John M. Chu for the second. It is still unknown when Now You See Me 3 will be released due to the director’s other obligations and the actors’ and writers’ strikes. However, if the strikes are settled and production can begin, fans may look forward to it around the middle of 2024.
About Now You See
An egotistical but clever illusionist called J. Daniel Atlas joins a band of wandering magicians they call the Four Horsemen in the Now You See Me film series. Their most impressive trick is taking the money from corrupt individuals and depositing it into the accounts of the people watching the broadcast in real-time. How will the Four Horsemen pull off their biggest trick ever while being pursued by an FBI agent, an Interpol investigator, and a magic debunker?
Now You See Me 3 Cast
Most of the original cast members, including Benedict Cumberbatch, whose involvement was announced in 2017, are expected to return for the third chapter. Michael Caine and Dave Franco have been officially confirmed for their roles; however, we may also expect the following members of the magical thieves team to return:
- Jesse Eisenberg as J. Daniel Atlas
- Dave Franco as Jack Wilder
- Michael Caine as Arthur Tressler
- Morgan Freeman as Thaddeus Bradley
- David Warshofsky as Agent Cowan
- Lizzy Caplan as Lula May
Rumor has it that Benedict Cumberbatch, well known for portraying Sherlock Holmes, will be a part of Now You See Me 3. The film will have new characters and a new kind of robbery, therefore casting new actors is essential. Fans are divided on whether or whether Cumberbatch will portray a good guy, bad guy, or police officer.
Getting the original ensemble back together was a major difficulty in producing Now You See Me 3. Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, and Lizzy Caplan were just a few of the many talented performers who appeared in the first two films. It has been difficult to reunite the cast for a third film since they have all been working on different projects since 2016.
Harrelson has been in both indie features and Hollywood blockbusters. Eisenberg and Dave Franco’s attention has been shifting away from acting and toward directing. Caplan has been contributing to successful television series. Finding a time when they can all meet has been challenging.
Now You See Me 3 Plot
There won’t be much continuity between Now You See Me 2 and 3. The plot will be much more original and engaging as a result. The producers have been intentionally vague to prevent fans from making assumptions.
It was also announced that Eric Warren Singer has been engaged by Lionsgate to write the screenplay for their next film, Now You See Me 3. Eric’s efforts on American Hustle earned him an Academy Award nomination as well.
The president of Lionsgate’s motion picture division, Nathan Kahane, said that “Eric has always been fascinated with the fine art of deception and illusion in all its forms,” and that “he came to us with a great story that takes the mythology of Now You See Me and pushes The Four Horsemen to a whole new level with our key returning cast and new characters.”
Kahane said, “The foundation of the Now You See Me series rests on the ability to consistently shock and amaze its viewers. No master magician ever stuck with the same routine. And Eric and the other illusionists in the new film are planning something really spectacular.
Now You See Me 3 Trailer
There has been no third film’s trailer released as of yet.
Conclusion
While a Now, You See Me 3 is still possible, it looks unlikely to be produced anytime soon. There’s no guarantee that any of the original cast members will be available, and it appears to be a high priority for the show’s producers. With each passing day, the likelihood of a Now You See Me sequel decreases. Perhaps things might have turned out differently if Now You See Me 2 had become more financially successful.
