Action, mystery, and science fiction are hardly the only genres represented in American television dramas and series. Is the relatively new kind of medical drama something you’ve dabbled in? If you haven’t watched any of these programs before, we highly suggest them. There have been eight seasons of the American medical drama House. You’d be wrong if you assumed it was an old show. In the early 2000s, House was introduced to the general public. The premiere of the series garnered millions of people and was met with universal acclaim. The cast also earned positive reviews from the press.
Not only do Americans love their action, thriller, and science fiction programs and plays, but have you tried the relatively new genre of medical drama? We have a great suggestion for you if you haven’t watched any of these programs before. House is an American medical drama that aired for eight seasons. You’d be wrong if you assumed it was an old program. At the beginning of the twenty-first century, the public first saw the House. Millions of people watched the series once it came out, and the reviews were overwhelmingly good. All of the actors received high marks from reviewers.
House Season 9 Renewal Status
There was some confusion as to whether or not Fox canceled the medical drama House when it ended after season 8 in 2012. House, starring Hugh Laurie as the title character, is a show greatly influenced by Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes books. Laurie plays Dr. Gregory House, the cynical and unconventional chief of diagnostic medicine at the fictitious Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital in New Jersey. In 2008, House had more than 81 million viewers globally, making it the most successful fictional TV program in the world.
By the time season, 8 of House aired, however, the show’s popularity had waned and key players like Cuddy had departed the ensemble. After 8 seasons on the air, the show’s three primary stakeholders (Fox, the network; Universal Television, the major production firm; and the production crew, led by creator Howard Shore) began debating whether or not House had reached its natural conclusion. However, such discussions were not simple.
House Season 8 Recap
Dr. Gregory House, the protagonist of the first eight seasons of House, is the head of the diagnostics team at Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital and an addict who has become dependent on painkillers. He often disagrees with his team members, colleagues, and other physicians. Because the majority of the information he uses to report on the patients’ conditions is suspect.
In addition, he often broke hospital policy and procedure, which placed him in conflict with his superior, Dr. Lisa Cuddy. Only Dr. James Wilson is Dr. House’s buddy among the medical staff. Dr. Wilson, Dr. House’s one and only buddy, died of cancer in the most recent eighth season, while Cuddy, Dr. House’s love interest, was gone throughout seasons six and seven. True, the program no longer has Cuddy and Dr. Wilson, the only pals in the world. Fans are eager to see how Dr. House deals with being alone after the deaths of his girlfriend and best friend in the forthcoming season.
House Season Cast
Since it’s very improbable that the program would be revived, the producers probably wouldn’t have allowed so much time to pass between seasons 8 and 9 if they had intended to bring it back. Consequently, it is hard to say much about the cast at this time; we are hoping for the same cast as in previous seasons. On the other hand, some of the supporting cast has already departed.
- Hugh Laurie as Dr. Gregory House
- Lisa Edelstein as Dr. Lisa Cuddy
- Robert Sean Leonard as Dr. James Wilson
- Omar Epps as Dr. Eric Foreman
- Jennifer Morrison as Dr. Allison Cameron
- Jesse Spencer as Dr. Robert Chase
- Kal Penn as Dr. Lawrence Kutner
- Olivia Wilde as Dr. Remy Hadley
- Peter Jacobson as Dr. Chris Taub
- Anne Dudek as Dr. Amber Valakis
- Amber Tamblyn as Dr. Martha Masters
- Odette Annable as Dr. Jessica Adams
House Season 9 Plot
The setting of the novel is the Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital (PPTH), an imaginary facility in Plainsboro, New Jersey. Dr. Gregory House and his medical team travel there to look for the patient. Doctors have to make diagnoses based on patient’s symptoms, but they often disagree over how to treat certain diseases since they have come up with new approaches. Dr. Gregory House’s relationship with Dr. Lisa Cuddy, the medical school’s dean, has also improved. Season 9 of House would have continued the plot from season 8.
Reasons for Cancellation of House Season 9
Season 8 of House was always supposed to be the last, thus there wasn’t ever going to be a Season 9. When we first started watching the show, we thought it had a bright future, and we certainly never expected this to happen. Fox’s eighth season of House began airing on October 3, 2011 and concluded on May 21, 2012. After then, September became a very important month for viewers, since it was when the vast majority of seasons were made available. Unfortunately, Season 9 will not be arriving anytime soon.
In addition to low ratings, another problem contributed to the show’s demise, as reported by TV Guide. Fox, House’s former broadcasting network partner, formerly required an investment of $5 million every episode. Fox is waiting for the licensing price to go down before offering a remake of the program. It didn’t get a big enough discount. Universal and Fox’s longstanding rivalry is another contributing element.
Fox opposed Universal’s plan to extend the season to 22 episodes. It was prepared to assemble a 13-episode series finale. This led to the ultimate cancellation of the House television series.
