Vicki Lutas and Anna McCleery’s “Free Rein” is a stunning coming-of-age tale that they developed and wrote. On June 23, 2017, Netflix began streaming all 10 episodes of this British series. The second season began on July 6, 2018, and was produced by Lime Pictures. After this, on December 7th, 2018, a Christmas episode titled “Free Rein: The 12 Neighs of Christmas” and on February 1st, 2019, a Valentine’s Day episode titled “Free Rein: Valentine’s Day” were both released as feature-length episodes.
Both audiences and critics have given the show positive reviews. The show’s upbeat tone, which makes it suitable for all members of the family to watch, appears to be a major factor in its success. Animal advocates have also considered ‘Free Rein’ to be worthwhile viewing.
Free Rein Season 4 Renewal Status
Fans of Netflix’s Free Rein were left wondering for a while whether or not season 4 would ever be produced. Season 3 premiered on July 6, 2019, and after several years, we still haven’t heard anything from Netflix about season 4. People were surprised that Netflix decided to cancel one of its most popular teen drama programs so soon. And the narrative is just getting started. The show was rumored to have been canceled in 2020. Fans held out hope that the program will still return despite the lack of confirmation from Netflix or the cast.
Free Rein Season 4 Release Date
The show’s first season premiered in 2017, and subsequent seasons 2 (2018) and 3 (2019) have already been broadcast. There have been no further developments since the show’s 2019 cancellation regarding a potential Season 4. In between its second and third seasons, the show also provided us with two more specials. The previous three seasons each included 10 episodes, so it stands to reason that the next fourth season will follow suit.
Despite the lack of information on the release date for season 4, which was initially delayed due to the pandemic crisis, the show would take almost 1 year to produce, thus a release date in 2024 is reasonable if production begins in 2023.

Free Rein Season 3 Recap
There’s a lot of tension in Season 3 of the program. We see Aaron, Zoe’s cousin from Los Angeles, arrive; we see an open-day celebration set up for the new mayor’s arrival; we see Clarrie leave the gate open, leading to a stampede of horses; and we see Clarissa’s daughter get hurt while trying to ride a horse, leading Claire to want to capture the horse. Mia suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) around horses after being thrown off a horse during the trek to catch the animal. Susie begins an internship with the council office, and Becky starts a breakfast club; she also cautions all riders about Claire.
There is also much confusion around the trainer’s examination, and when the club throws a tea party for the mayor, Zoe ruins it by splashing cream in his face. By the season’s end, Raven and Ariel have given birth to a foal they’ve named Scout. There’s also plenty of social media drama, in which Becky is able to rescue the horses and Clarie is cast as the villain. There’s a lot of mystery around the poising of the horses, which Jade and Becky eventually figure out to be caused by lead poisoning.
