Food Wars is an intense anime with a novel premise that revolves around the process of cooking. Even something as seemingly routine as cooking can be rendered baffling by this animation. Each character has their own voice and is written in a way that makes the audience care about them. There is also a considerable amount of fan service, to the point where the show occasionally neglects its central concept in favor of it. Food Wars!: Shokugeki no Soma Season 6 Renewal Status
Despite our hopes, it appears that Food Wars will not be returning for a sixth-season of the anime. Season 5 of Food Wars was officially renewed not long after the conclusion of season 4. Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma Storyline
Hunger conflicts! Shokugeki no Soma is adapted from Yto Tsukuda and Shun Saeki’s manga series of the same name. Soma Yukihira, a high school student at TotsukiSaryo Culinary Institute, is the protagonist of this series. The institute in Tokyo, Japan is a well-regarded cooking school. Only a small number of students are chosen each year.
Soma Yukihira hopes to take over his father Joichiro’s (the restaurant’s namesake) position as head chef. The restaurant is simply called “Restaurant Yukihira.” Yukihira eventually outshines his father in the kitchen, but Joichiro finds a job that needs him to travel the world, so he has to shut down the family business. The protagonist, Soma Yukihira, competes against illustrious chefs from around the globe. He’s determined to improve his abilities and show his worth.

I was intrigued by the idea of a food-themed animation. It’s great for binge-watching because the focus is on the delicious food. The animation perfectly captures the essence of deliciously cooked food, from its aroma to its satiating fullness. The premise is simple: the story follows a young child as he develops and competes against other students at a cooking school in his quest to become a great chef. Although it lacks originality, it serves its purpose.
Different races and personalities populate the plot, but everyone ends up being sympathetic. The anime’s one major weakness is the excessive use of ecchi and fan service in depicting the characters’ reactions to the cuisine, which may be a high point for some viewers but a turnoff for others.
But hey, at least we know what to expect because this is an anime. In the end, I found this to be a charming animation, and I enjoyed both of the dubbed seasons very well. After a three-year absence, I finally caught up with Season 3 and was disappointed to find that the anime had slowed down and become less engaging.
