Home Team, Hustle, Bruised, Skater Girl, and many more sports-related films have just been added to Netflix’s catalog. In 2020, the streaming giant will add a sports documentary depicting the challenges of cheering to the site, further expanding the library’s offerings.
The American sports documentary series Cheer premiered on Netflix in 2018. In January of 2020, the first season of the show debuted. The documentary follows the Navarro College Bulldogs cheerleading squad from Corsicana, Texas, and their quest to become national champions. Coach Monica Aldama has them gearing up for the National Cheerleading Championship in Daytona Beach, Florida. Season 2 of Cheer premiered on Netflix in January 2022, and it was a huge success with viewers, leading many to wonder whether there will be a Season 3. This is what we know at the moment.
Cheer Season 3 Cast and Crew
If there is a third season of the docuseries Cheer, the current cast is likely to return. Monica Aldama, Jerry Harris, Gabi Butler, Morgan Simianer, Lexi Brumback, Mackenzie Sherbum, Shannon Woolsey, and LaDarius Mashall are only a few of the actors that appear in the series.
Greg Whiteley is the show’s creator. Andrew Fried has been the show’s executive producer. The show’s music has been composed by Yuri Tomanek and Joseph Minadeo. One Potato Production and Broadwalk Pictures Caviar were two of the production firms that helped deliver the program to viewers. The streaming giant Netflix has purchased the rights to air the series. On January 8, 2020, the premiere of the first season aired, and on January 12, 2022, the premiere of the second season aired.
What Happened in Cheers Season 2?
Season two of the Netflix documentary series followed Navarro’s cheerleading team. The ones from Trinity Valley Community College, who were getting ready to compete in the NCA Championships, were no exception. They had to cancel the 2020 championships because of COVID. And pick back up with what amounts to a whole new squad once classes resume. A break from her job as an instructor allowed Monica Aldama to participate in Dancing With the Stars.
After a disagreement over Jerry Harris’s arrest, La’Darius Marshall abruptly resigned from his position. And the pressure and the spotlight that came with the show’s unprecedented popularity after its first season. TVCC’s struggles as an underdog were also highlighted this season. In addition (spoiler alert), how they overcome such obstacles to win the 2021 championship.
Cheer Season 3 Expected Plot
Several key figures in Navarro and Trinity Valley were pondering whether or not to return for Season 3 as Season 2 came to a close. Navarro’s Maddy Brum and Gillian said they’d come back and win it for their team, while Cassadee Dunlap said she was done with it. While TVCC’s DeVonte Joseph was excited to go back on the mat, TVCC’s Jada Wooten said she was prepared to put up her cheering uniform.
When asked about a third season, Gabi Butler told Marie Claire, “At a junior college, you can only do three years; 2021 was my third year. But because of COVID, they gave everyone one more year of eligibility, so, yes? I’m not really sure what I’m doing with my life right now, but just stay tuned,” she said.
Is Cheer based on a true story?
Greg Whiteley claims to have created a genuine and realistic show with his production of Cheer; no events, competitions, games, or talks are planned and delivered to coaches or players to display on camera.
Cheer is not a spoof because nothing about the cheer competition or any individual’s actual experiences or feelings is directed, but certain elements were adjusted for our entertainment, and this is to be expected given the amount of time, money, and other resources spent.
Cheer Season 3 Release Date
Although Netflix has not confirmed a third season of the Cheering documentary series, Season 2 came as a total shock to viewers, thus Season 3 of Cheer may already be in production. Finals for 2022 were slated for April 6-10, so we believed we would have Cheer Season 3 sooner than expected because Navarro and TVCC should be well-practiced and ready to compete in a few months.
At the conclusion of Season 2, several key players on both Navarro and Trinity Valley were considering whether to return, but Maddy Brum and Gillian of Navarro said they would be back to win it all. There is more to come in Season 3 of Cheer, as both Cassadee Dunlap and Jada Wooten have said that they are ready to put their cheering uniforms away.
