When Netflix promised a flood of Korean entertainment during all of 2023, it delivered on that promise. The Korean drama Castaway Diva is set to be released on the streaming service, and we simply wanted to let everyone know about it.
Many excellent Korean dramas, films, and reality series have already been released this year. Dramas like Crash Course in Romance, Love to Hate You, Black Knight, Bloodhounds, King the Land, Celebrity, etc. are examples of popular Korean productions. Korean movies including JUNG_E, Unlocked, and Kill Boksoon have recently appeared on streaming services. Obviously, we also watched the Korean versions of Survivor and Physical: 100.
We can’t wait to see all the Korean shows that Netflix has announced will be added before the year’s end. The cast of Castaway Diva, however, is one we can’t wait to witness.
Castaway Diva Release Date
The premiere is set for October 28, 2023, and subsequent episodes will be broadcast on Netflix every Saturday and Sunday. The first season consists of 12 episodes and is scheduled to end on December 3.

Castaway Diva Plot
The romantic comedy series Castaway Diva follows a young woman as she works toward her dream of being a well-known singer and an idol in the K-pop scene. Seo Mok-Ha (Park Eun-Bin) is on her way to Seoul for an audition after winning a UCC competition. However, tragedy strikes when Seo is accidentally marooned for 15 years on a remote island. The show follows her as she adjusts to life after being saved and faces the challenges of reentering the music business, which has undergone significant changes in the meantime.
Castaway Diva Cast
Fans of the critically acclaimed courtroom drama Extraordinary Attorney Woo will be pleased to learn that the show’s main lady also stars in the latter. That’s correct, you spotted a typo. Park Eun-bin, who has received widespread critical praise, stars as Seo Mok-ha.

It was reported in The Hollywood Reporter that Yoon Ran-ju was a “once-popular singer and Seo Mok-ha’s idol, who seeks a fresh start on life after finding her fan from the island.” In addition, Kang Bo-geol is known for his work as a “calm and introverted variety show producer and director.”
Oh Chung-hwan, who also directed Hotel del Luna and Big Mouth on the Korean side, is in charge of this series. Additionally, the scripts were written by Park Hye-ryun (Start-Up, While You Were Sleeping).

She says, “I’m Seo Mok-Ha of the deserted island,” giving viewers a taste of her story of living alone on the island for 15 years in the teaser that was published by Netflix on October 18, 2023. She toils ceaselessly, day in and day out, searching the shoreline and the depths for food while donning hats and mesh vests that the crashing waves have washed ashore.
Spending half her existence on an isolated island waiting for rescue teaches her skills about survival that are more valuable than wealth or celebrity. Fifteen years later, after being rescued by Chae Jong-Hyeop’s character Kang Bo-Geol, she comes back to the world but has entirely lost touch with reality.
