Benefits of At-Home Microdermabrasion

Benefits of At-Home Microdermabrasion

-immediate results

-no chemicals (broken capillaries and other skin damage is a potential side effect of some spa microdermabrasion treatments)

“As we age, our collagen production slows down. Microdermabrasion helps stimulate the collagen process.”

-tighter pores, fewer blackheads

-improved skin tone and texture

-reduces fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, etc. -stimulates the production of new skin cells -helps with acne scarring

-improves dry or flaky skin

-“chemical peels” are essentially more invasive forms of microdermabrasion that may cause additional, unnecessary irritation to skin cells

-unlike laser peels, microdermabrasion is not permanent -some of the following problems are possible if you purchase an at-home kit or device that has not been approved by the FDA:

-“Microdermabrasion” can be used interchangeably with “at-home microdermabrasion”

-the only authorized at-home microdermabrasion devices on the market are Clarisonic, Skinvigorate, and Smartskincare by Skin Medica

-“Microdermabrasion crystals” can be a combination of plastic beads and aluminum oxide. Aluminum Oxide is the only substance that the FDA has approved for use in at-home microdermabrasion treatments. If you’re going to try it, make sure your crystals contain aluminum oxide.

Clarisonic is a way better investment, but I’m trying this first on my left side and then I’ll do my right side on another day. I’ll see how it goes and give you guys a review on this one.

Microdermabrasion crystals:

-the word “crystals” is often misused as a generic term for any type of microdermabrasion product or treatment that contains aluminum oxide (crystals) as the exfoliating agent

-crystals are typically combined with glycolic acid, which helps to dissolve dead skin cells on the surface of the skin

-the crystals act as an exfoliating agent that removes the ashes from a cigarette -the ashes represent the buildup of dead skin cells on your face

-overtime, these loose “ashes” accumulate and create a dull appearance on old skin

-when you use an at-home microdermabrasion kit, the crystals act as sort of sandpaper that helps remove these dead cells -a white powder is left behind after using this treatment

-“buffing beads” are synthetic plastic particles that are added to some products for gentle exfoliation

-some manufacturers claim that these plastic particles will result in microdermabrasion treatments that are better suited for people with sensitive skin

-“buffing beads” can be made of polyethylene or another type of plastic, and they can cause facial irritation, redness, and other negative side effects

-“the original microdermabrasion”

-microdermabrasion was developed by Dr. Ronald Moy, who is also the current president of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery

-“UV sanitizing wand” -also known as a “UV light saver” or UV lamp

-the device emits ultraviolet (UV) light on your face to kill acne-causing bacteria

-most devices of this type use UVA rays instead of UVB rays, which are more commonly associated with burning and skin damage

-“crystal tip wand” -designed for at-home microdermabrasion treatments

-“ultrasound wand” -uses sound waves that are meant to stimulate cell growth

-“vacuum wand” -helps remove loose skin cells from the face

-any type of device that has not been approved by the FDA is considered a “novelty device” under federal law and may cause serious damage to your health or result in injury, infection, or scarring

-“a treatment that has been approved by the FDA is generally considered safe and effective”

-microdermabrasion treatments may result in mild side effects such as a temporary pinkish glow on your face, which is a normal reaction of fresh capillaries near the surface of your skin.

-“The newer, gentler microdermabrasion treatments”

-Clarisonic uses a soft brush to remove dead skin cells and help clean your pores -this device is not intended to remove deep layers of facial skin and should never be used as a replacement for professionally administered microdermabrasion treatments

-“Skin Medica’s Skinvigorate” -compatible with all Skin Medica products

-uses vibrating massage to help exfoliate your face for a more noticeable improvement in skin appearance

-“Smartskincare by Skin Medica” -an effective, gentle microdermabrasion treatment that is compatible with most anti-aging products

-“Smoothing cream” is-a product that contains fruit acids for gentle exfoliation

-the acid inside “Smoothing cream” is derived from grapefruit extract, which has been shown to cause microdermabrasion treatments with similar results to the at-home treatment kits on the market today

-“the best anti-aging products are the ones that successfully combine beneficial ingredients with proven results”

-The key to maintaining healthy, youthful skin is regular microdermabrasion treatments with salicylic acid, which help remove dead skin cells and can reduce or eliminate acne breakouts

-salicylic acid is a beta hydroxy acid that helps exfoliate the skin and remove dead cells

-“it can be found in a variety of products, including sunless tanners”

-salicylic acid is recommended by professional dermatologists for oil control and acne treatment

-salicylic acid works by loosening sell bonds to gently exfoliate the skin and unclog pores, which can lead to a significant improvement in the appearance of your skin

-“Glytone Body Lotion” -a lotion that contains 10% salicylic acid

-“DermalQuench Liquid Lift Advanced Wrinkle Reducer” -contains an alpha hydroxy acid called glycolic acid

-this acid is a sugar molecule that readily absorbs into the skin and helps dissolve dead skin cells

-“DermalQuench Liquid Lift Advanced Wrinkle Reducer” -helps boost collagen production and improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles

-you should apply this product to your face before using it on your neck, chest, or other areas of your body

-“Skin Medica’s Skin Complex” -helps boost the production of collagen, plump skin cells, and increase hydration

-“plumping your skin with hyaluronic acid can smooth away fine lines and wrinkles

-you may need to combine this process with microdermabrasion treatments or laser resurfacing for best results

-“Skin Medica TNS Recovery Complex” -combines human growth factors with antioxidants and other ingredients to improve the appearance of your skin tone, texture, and elasticity

Microdermabrasion at home before and after:

Microdermabrasion, also known as Microderm, is an easy cosmetic technique that can be carried out at home or salon. It helps to remove the dead skin cells, reduce the size of pores and tighten loose skin.

It is mostly used by women to rejuvenate their face for making it look smooth and healthy. Microdermabrasion treatment can help to get rid of the following skin issues:

1)Acne scars

2)Uneven skin tone

3)Stretch marks

4)Age spots or hyperpigmentation

5)Sun damage

6)Fine lines

10). To stimulate the production of collagen and elastin

How Microderms Work?

Put simply, microdermabrasion is a mechanical exfoliation procedure using a handheld device containing a tip with suction to peel away the top layer of dead skin. Unlike other forms of exfoliation, microdermabrasion does not use a physical exfoliant such as a scrub or a loofah This ensures the new skin is not exposed to irritation.

The device has a handle and a tip with a suction mechanism. The tip rotates while suction is applied to loosen the top layer of dead skin cells so that they are removed by the gentle rotating action of the tip. The process is repeated several times to ensure all dead skin cells are removed.

There are various forms of microdermabrasion devices available in the market. You can choose any suitable one depending on your requirement, budget and what you really want for your face.

Retinol microdermabrasion is one of the effective ways to rejuvenate your skin by removing the dead, dry skin cells. Microscopic crystals are used in many microdermabrasion devices which gently exfoliate away old, damaged surface layers. Retinols increase cell turnover rate and act as an anti-inflammatory agent.

Microdermabrasion is also used to treat several skin conditions like eczema, hyperpigmentation, acne scars, wrinkles, and stretch marks by removing the damaged layer of skin (epidermis).

Advantage of microdermabrasion:

1. Microdermabrasion is a quick procedure that does not take more than 30 minutes. 2. It is done without any form of sedation or local anesthetic 3. The procedure can be carried out at home or in salons depending on your convenience

The disadvantage of microdermabrasion:

1. Discomfort during the procedure is quite common. Most of them do not experience any problem but some might feel a little pain.

Microdermabrasion is a quick and affordable treatment option for a number of skin conditions. Most often, microdermabrasion is used to improve the appearance of the following common facial complaints:

1)Acne scars

2)Skin discoloration or hyperpigmentation 3

)Dull Skin

4)Large Pores

5)Enlarged Skin Pores

6)Fine lines

7)Loose or Sagging Skin

8)Sun Damage

9)Age Spots

10). Uneven Skin Tone

Microdermabrasion is also used to treat several skin conditions like eczema, hyperpigmentation, acne scars, wrinkles, and stretch marks by removing the damaged layer of skin (epidermis).

Microdermabrasion treatment is performed by an aesthetician who uses a handheld device with tiny crystals to gently sand away the uppermost layer of dead skin cells. It can take anywhere from 10 to 30 minutes and there should be no downtime, although some patients may experience redness and minor irritation after the treatment.

We suggest Microdermabrasion Treatment 1 or 2 times a year to keep your skin healthy and glowing. The decision should be taken by the doctor after examination of the patient’s skin condition.

Microdermabrasion tips and tricks:

1. Make sure you do a patch test and should inform your doctor if you have an allergy to either the tape or any of the other ingredients.

2. You should apply sunscreen after microdermabrasion as it can increase sun sensitivity which means you have to apply sunscreen every time after exfoliation.

3. Microdermabrasion can cause dryness, so you should moisturize your skin after the procedure.

4. You should not use scrubs or exfoliating cleansers like apricot scrubs for at least a week before the procedure.

5. Do not have any form of alcohol for a day before and after the microdermabrasion treatment, as this can interfere with the results of the procedure.

6. Downtime is minimal, but you may feel redness or irritation after the procedure that could last for about an hour.

7. You should not get microdermabrasion if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have active cold sores on your lips, herpes near your mouth or nose, blood clotting problems, bleeding disorders like hemophilia, if you have a pacemaker or any electrical device in your body, or if you are on blood thinners.

8. Avoid tanning and smoking before and after the procedure as it can increase the risk of complications during healing.

9. You should not get microdermabrasion regularly more than twice a year on your face. You should get it done on your neck and chest area once a year, as they are less sensitive than facial skin.

10. Make sure you do not touch the treated areas for at least 24 hours after getting the treatment, so the crystals can settle down and form a protective layer on top of your skin tissue.
