Devotion, A Story of Love and Desire Season 1 Review
Simply put Devotion: A Story of Love and Desire is what it claims to be. It’s an Italian six-part sitcom about a married couple struggling with conflicting feelings of love and desire. The outcome is a series that has its moments of brilliance but ultimately fizzles out without much panache or anything new to say that hasn’t already been said better elsewhere.
A seemingly perfect pair serves as the protagonists of the story. Carlo, ever charming, is a professor at a Milanese university. Both his colleagues and his students hold him in high esteem. He has a second job as a writer, but he can’t seem to get anything written.
Devotion: A Story of Love and Desire is, in the end, a show about moments. There’s a lot of overlong melodrama and missed opportunities, but there are also some great exchanges and memorable scenes that help carry the film. It’s not a terrible program, and it’s simple to drop in and out of, but you probably won’t remember anything about it once the credits roll.
