With ‘Yellowstone’ as its precedent, ’68 Whiskey’ is Paramount Network’s second scripted series and one of 2018’s most-watched new cable shows. The multiethnic team of army doctors assigned to the Afghan base known as “The Orphanage” is at the center of this dark comedy-drama.
Their adventures in unexpected countries, where they must rely on one another, their many tools, and, at times, their sheer will to survive are chronicled in Charlie Golf One, ’68 Whiskey, an adaptation of an Israeli television series of the same name. After the premiere, Season 1 received mostly positive reviews and maintained a steady audience throughout its whole run. The question now is whether or not the show will be given a second season. Or will there be a season two of 68 Whiskey? Continue reading to find out.
68 Whiskey Season 2 Renewal Status
According to Deadline, Paramount Network has decided to end “68 Whiskey” after just one season. The sitcom was adapted from the Israeli program “Charlie Gulf One” by Imagine Television Studios and CBS TV Studios. Roberto Benabib is responsible for both writing and design. The first season launched in January and received an 88% critical score on Rotten Tomatoes but only a 38% audience score.
68 Whiskey Season 2 Release Date
The first episode of Season 1 of 68 Whiskey debuted on Paramount Network on January 15, 2020. The series ended on March 18, 2020, after 10 episodes. According to data provided by Paramount Network, the season debut was the most-watched cable drama series debut in the measure since November 2018 with 2 million viewers tuning in. After a promising start, the show’s ratings took a nosedive in the weeks that followed; by the end of the year, it had fallen out of the Top 100 in all key demographics.
Paramount saw this lackluster reception and made the decision to cancel the show. The second season of ’68 Whiskey’ was officially canceled in September 2020 by the network. Modest numbers weren’t the only reason the show was canceled; sources also cited increased expenditures associated with the COVID-19 outbreak, filming in Los Angeles, and the large number of background players in some sequences.
68 Whiskey storyline
The show revolves around a diverse group of Army doctors working at a base in Afghanistan dubbed “The Orphanage.” The medics get through their dangerous and comical work environment by leaning on each other and their shared vices (and occasionally their shared sense of purpose).
Cooper Roback (Sam Keeley) and Mekhi Davis (Jeremy Tardy) are two members of the U.S. Army squad that routinely travel by air to and from war zones. When they aren’t directly involved in the fight, they try to benefit from it through other schemes. Their rule-breaking schemes and minor importance pale in comparison to those of the well-paid mercenary gang backed by an entity known as SecCorp.
