Xbox Series S and Series X: Microsoft will sell consoles at a loss

When the Xbox Series X and Series S prices were announced, many wondered how the Redmond company managed to keep prices so (relatively) low compared to initial speculations and analysts’ forecasts. Insider Benji-Sales also asked, which quickly found an answer.

The VentureBeat reporter confirms that both consoles will be sold at a loss and will not generate any profits, at least initially. In particular Xbox Series S will generate the greater loss of the two and moreover it is an easily imaginable scenario, considering that the latter has a list cost of 299 dollars / euro, excluding taxes in the first case. Xbox Series X will instead cost 499 euros, a figure that in any case will not allow you to earn money on each unit sold.

Recall that Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S will be available from 10 November in Europe and North America, in the United States, Canada, Australia and the United Kingdom it will be possible to buy the two consoles also through the Xbox All Access subscription starting at $ 24.99 per month (for Xbox Series S) for two years, with Xbox Game Pass Ultimate included and possibility to replace the console with a higher model after 24 months.
