Vampire Academy Season 2: Will It Return For Another Season?

On September 15, 2022, Peacock premiered its version of the Vampire Academy books, and the first season concluded on October 27, 2022. People are already speculating whether there will be a Season 2 of Vampire Academy and, if so, when it will be published, despite the fact that the Season 1 conclusion only recently aired. That’s why we’re here to make sure you have all the information you need about Season 2 of Vampire Academy. So, let’s not waste any time and get started.

Vampire Academy Season 2 Renewal Status

Peacock aired 10 episodes of a TV show based on the Vampire Academy novel series by Richelle Mead from September to October 2022 before canceling it in January 2023.

Why was Vampire Academy Season 2 canceled?

The early reception of Vampire Academy was positive but not overly enthusiastic. Compared to the film’s dismal 17% rating on Rotten Tomatoes eight years ago, the first season’s 77% rating based on 13 critic reviews is a significant improvement. Although critically acclaimed, the show only managed a 48% approval rating from the viewing public. While these numbers shouldn’t be taken at face value—especially since bias may have played a role—they do indicate that Vampire Academy wasn’t a smashing success for Peacock.

According to Deadline, which broke the news of the termination on January 20, 2023, Vampire Academy “didn’t find the requisite audience to justify further seasons” along with another show that was also canceled, One of Us is Lying. However, the show’s artistic direction evidently satisfied the Peacock executives.

It’s unfortunate that the program wasn’t given more time to develop, considering that it had already been sold to over a hundred countries. Vampire Academy might have established its fan base and grown substantially with a second season. It’s impossible not to speculate about the show’s potential success had it premiered 10 years earlier on a traditional TV network rather than via streaming.

Vampire Academy Season 2 Release Date

It is unknown how long Vampire Academy will remain between seasons as Peacock is still growing its drama lineup. However, most streaming shows take about a year to produce. Peacock’s other teen show, One of Us Is Lying, debuted in October 2021, was renewed in January 2022, and returned in October 2022 for a second season. If previous seasons are any indication, we could see the return of Vampire Academy in October 2024, or anytime throughout the winter.

Vampire Academy Storyline

The books by Richelle Mead on which Vampire Academy is based focuses on a privileged and glamorous society. Despite coming from very different social backgrounds, the two young ladies manage to form a strong friendship as they near the conclusion of their formal education and prepare to join the vampire elite.

If you enjoy vampires, romance, and end-of-the-world drama, you should enjoy Julie Plec’s newest series, which is a completely unusual YA romance adaption.

Vampire Academy Season 2 Plotline

Since Peacock has not approved a second season, very little is known about it at this time. Given the number of novels available for adaptation, however, there is plenty of material to work with.
