In 2022, BBC One’s The Split is a popular choice for viewers of legal drama television. The Defoe ladies (with the exception of Hannah, the oldest sibling) all work in divorce law for the family company in this British television series written and developed by Abi Morgan. When a woman’s home and work life collide, it may flip her world upside down.
Season 3 of The Split debuted on April 4, 2022, and has a total of six episodes. Since then, followers have been wondering when the show’s fourth season would premiere. This is an essential read for any fan of The Split who has stuck with it for all the seasons. Find out all we know about the fourth season of The Split so far, including when it will premiere, who will be in it, and a teaser.
The Split Season 4 Renewal Status
The final season of the critically acclaimed show The Split has finally here. The BBC announced in 2017 that season three of the critically acclaimed show will be it’s final, calling it “the most dramatic and heartbreaking series to date.”
Abi Morgan, the show’s creator, has spoken openly about the choice she made to cancel Season 4 of the show.”It was always the plan and in fact, I don’t think I’m saying anything out of turn here, the BBC would have loved us to have gone on really. But I always conceived it as three.
“The Split was meant to be about the legacy of the split, and season 1 is really Hannah reflecting on her childhood and the legacy of her parent’s divorce, and then 2 was about the affair. And then 3 is really about Hannah facing her own divorce. So I’d always considered it as three.
“And I love writing for those characters and I’m sure I will kick myself again and again. But I also feel like, how many times can you bring people back together and split them up and bring them back together? It would become a different show.”

The Split Season 4 Storyline
The Defoe ladies put in long hours practicing divorce law for the family business, and their lives serve as the backdrop for the events of The Split. Hannah, the oldest sister, stands out by joining the competing Noble & Hale legal firm. The Defoes have tasks that they must fulfill in order to care for their family. The Defoe family’s first season of The Spilt begins in turmoil as the father who had been gone for 30 years returns. After meeting her true love, though, Hannah decides to start over. With the merger of Noble & Hale Halr, the Defoe family returns in season 2 of The Split.
Season 5 of The Split continued the show’s tradition of shocking viewers. Even though Hannah is meant to have a happy conclusion, she and her husband end up divorcing. Hannah and Nathan split up and split custody of their three kids in the season three finale. There are currently no plans to film Season 4 of Split. Despite the relatively amicable conclusion of the previous season, the producers have opted not to continue the show. The fact that we won’t be getting any new plot arcs despite the show’s success is really disappointing to the audience.
Can We Expect a Spin-off in The Future?
The third season of The Split may be the last, but is there any chance of a spin-off? If you asked any one of us, I’m very sure we’d all give you the same response. Whatever Abi Morgan asks of us, we will do. There, done that. Nicola Walker told The Big RT, “We’re absolutely there.” “The fact that our mother is the woman this year who’s having the most successful relationship, I think is incredible. So maybe we could be revisited in years and see what the different sisters are up to. Maybe they’ll all have the most amazing professional and personal lives.”
