One exciting show coming soon to Prime Video is The Power. Amazon Prime Video hasn’t had as many original new shows as Netflix and Hulu, but it’s putting quality over quantity. Some of the best shows made by Amazon Prime Video are Upload, The Boys, Invincible, and Good Omens. The streaming service obviously knows how to make interesting TV. The Power might add more good shows to the ones they already have.
The Power is a sci-fi show that looks at what happens when certain kinds of power are given to girls. It’s an interesting idea that could give Amazon Prime another show that everyone should watch.
The Power is a new British global thriller drama TV series that was made by Naomi Alderman. The show is based on the same-named 2016 book by Alderman. In February 2019, it was confirmed that Amazon would make an adaptation of The Power by Jane Featherstone and Reed Morano. Jane Featherstone, Naomi de Pear, Naomi Alderman, Reed Morano, and Claire Wilson are in charge of making the show.
What is the story of The Power?
The Power’s official plot summary says: “The Power is just like our world, except for one thing. Teenage girls get the power to electrocute people at will all of a sudden and without warning. “The series has a cast of interesting characters from London to Seattle, Nigeria to Eastern Europe, as the Power grows from a tingle in teenagers’ collarbones to a complete reversal of the world’s power balance.”
The book that the show is based on was a huge hit when it came out. It was compared to Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale, and Barack Obama put it on the list of his favorite novels of the year. Atwood is a big fan of Alderman and chose her as a protégé in 2012. Let’s hope that the TV show based on The Power will be as influential and moving as the one based on The Handmaid’s Tale.
Alderman has said that she was “thrilled beyond words” that the show would be seen by people all over the world. She added: “The story is a global one, about the lives of women and men everywhere in the world, so I’m hugely excited that The Power will be sparking conversation and debate essentially… everywhere. “We’re going to make something new and, dare I say it, electrifying.”

Covid caused major filming delays and cast changes
Covid caused many delays in making The Power, just like it did for many other projects that were supposed to start in early 2020. Rainn Wilson agreed to play the part of Daniel Dandon in 2020. Dandon is the Governor of Washington State, which is a big deal for Margot (according to Variety). He was presumed to be a regular on the show and co-star with Leslie Mann, who was supposed to play Margot. In 2019, she joined the cast.
Deadline said that Rainn Wilson is leaving the show and that Tim Robbins will join in January 2021. But by May 2022, both Leslie Mann and Tim Robbins had left the project because of scheduling problems, according to Deadline. It was also said that Rainn had to leave the cast of “The Power” because of scheduling problems.
When they had to leave the project, both Leslie Mann and Tim Robbins had already started filming. All of their scenes would have to be redone. When Robbins joined the cast and took on the role of Daniel, it went from being a regular part to being a part that only happened sometimes. Josh Charles, who took over the role, will still show up from time to time.
The Power Trailer
The action-packed trailer came out on January 31, giving people an exciting look at the new show’s plot and characters. Toni Collette’s character, Margot, takes center stage in the teaser as she watches her rise to power and eventual success in politics. As the girls get used to being in charge, scenes are shown of them having fun with their new power.
The Power Episodes
Deadline says that the first season of The Power has ten episodes. It’s not clear if these episodes will be an hour long, but since this is a drama, they could be anywhere from 40 minutes to over an hour long.
How can I watch The Power?
The sci-fi show will debut on Friday, March 31, and only on Prime Video. Each Friday until the season finale on May 12, new episodes will be available.
The Power Release Date
From March 31 to May 12, The Power will be available online every Friday. Rotten Tomatoes says that the first four episodes will air on March 31, and then one episode will air each week until the end. Amazon usually puts out new shows once a week, and it appears to work.
