The Mick Plot: What is it about?
Mackenzie, called Micky (Kaitlin Olson), is a carefree Rhode Islander who moves to Los Angeles. Her sister Pamela Pemberton and her husband Christopher face charges of fraud and tax evasion, leaving her in charge of their spoilt nieces and nephews. After a day, her sister calls to announce that they have decided to leave the country. As a result, Mickey becomes the legal guardian of the children, who are essentially monsters, and she, along with the support of her “boyfriend” Jimmy and the housekeeper Alba, strives to bring them up to be respectable adults.
The protagonist, Mickey, is first seen casually strolling around a supermarket in her sweatpants with a distinct air of recklessness. She is not shy about using whatever product she finds in the aisles, whether it is makeup, deodorant, or beer. Her aim is to visit her sister in Greenwich, Connecticut, who just married into a wealthy family, and con her out of some cash. But when her sister and her husband are both jailed for fraud, that plan flies out the window. Mickey being trapped with the kids means that her nieces and nephews add their own brand of whiny energy to the proceedings.
Fans of the program will recall that Sabrina was mysteriously electrocuted at the conclusion of the previous season. It was generally agreed that it would severely impair her mental and, most likely, physical capabilities. Unfortunately, the network opted to cancel the program just before the cliffhanger, much to the dismay of many comic book readers who enjoyed the show’s tone and subject matter.
