The Brazilian online series ‘The Mechanism,’ commonly known as O Mecanismo, is a political drama. A fictitious dramatization of a real-life investigation into money laundering in Brazil, the show was developed by ‘Narcos’ creators José Padilha and Elena Soarez and directed by Padilha, Felipe Prado, and Marcos Prado.
Season 1 of ‘The Mechanism,’ a pretty new show, launched on Netflix in all regions on March 23, 2018, to positive reviews and ratings. The show was picked up for a second season on May 28, 2018, despite causing controversy among some audiences in Brazil. But will The Mechanism return for a third season? Currently, we know the following regarding the upcoming season:
The Mechanism Season 3 Renewal Status
There is currently no confirmed premiere date for Season 3 as of July 2023. However, this may not indicate that the show will no longer air. When we have more information to provide, we will post it here.
The Mechanism Season 3 Release Date
Netflix has not yet announced whether or not Season 3 of The Mechanism will be greenlit. As of February of 2022, there is still no official launch date for the forthcoming season. The show’s cancellation is not always implied. The premiere date for the next season has not been revealed, therefore the show may be on hiatus.
On May 10, 2019, the second season of The Mechanism premiered. Ruffo’s anti-corruption investigations, which are being overseen by Cardoni, remain the series’ primary focus. It’s safe to say that nobody in Brazil enjoyed the show’s second season. The big unknown at this point is whether or not Netflix will order a second season. Despite the heated debates it often sparks, there’s no doubting the show’s massive viewership. If anything, this should increase interest in the show.
The Mechanism Storyline
incidents and characters in the series are “loosely based” on the actual incidents in Brazil, as the drama is a portrayal of the ongoing Operation Car Wash in Brazil. As a result, the show’s fictitious characters and events are based on real persons and events connected to Operation Car Wash.
In case you haven’t heard of it, the Federal Police of Brazil stumbled onto a money trail that originated in a car wash, and the rest, as they say, is one of the worst corruption scandals in Latin American history. Since then, the Brazilian business Odebrecht has been deeply linked, and many prominent politicians, including previous presidents, have been cast in a negative light.
With such a delicate setting, the show uses loose fiction to depict the chain of incidents that resulted up to the scandal’s exposure and the chain of events that ensued afterward. The inquiry into the corruption scandal is continued by Verena Cardoni, Marco Ruffo’s protege, years after Ruffo’s initial breakthrough in the case by tracking down money launderer Roberto Ibrahim.

The Mechanism Review
The Mechanism, a crime drama television series from Brazil, is loosely based on actual occurrences. The Mechanism is a breakneck voyage through the realm of corruption in Brazil, with an intriguing well-developed group of characters at its core and a furious pace throughout. The lack of resolution is understandable considering the nature of the show, and it really serves the story nicely. The personal lives of the many characters are depicted with a bit too much melodrama, but the combination of outstanding acting and a compelling plot line makes The Mechanism a highly interesting and well-written show.
Even if the Brazilian crime drama The Mechanism isn’t as widely seen as Narcos or as focused on criminals as El Chapo, it nevertheless manages to stand out from the crowd and carve out its own niche in the competitive crime television landscape.
The great performance from the ensemble is just enough to cover the melodramatic depiction of the character’s personal lives, which does distract a little from the general appeal of the series. The Mechanism is an intriguing and enjoyable series that is definitely worth checking out, despite the fact that there are somewhat better choices in this category out there, thanks to its inconclusive finish and plot that is rich with thrills and mystery throughout.
