The Lion Guard Storyline
Kion, the second child of Simba and Nala, has always carried the weight and honor of being the Lion Guard’s commander. Members of the Lion Guard are crucial to the Pride Lands’ continued existence. Kion is the first lion cub to defy the Lion Guard by rallying an army of four different species: the cheetah Fuli, the hippopotamus Beshte, the egret Ono, and the honey badger Bunga. Mufasa, Kion’s grandmother, is helping them out in spirit form.
In Season 2, Kion’s villainous great-uncle Scar comes back with one goal in mind: to retake the Pride Lands. He was previously the guardian, but after a brutal battle with Simba, he was disgraced for abusing his position of authority. Scar is now rallying his troops by advising the Lion Guard’s foes and collecting animals from the Outlands. Scar presents himself to the rest of the Prideland population, threatening Simba by saying he will reclaim the territory soon. However, with the aid of Simba and the animals that Kion has gathered, the Lion Guard will be able to return him to the Outlands.
