In March of last year, Netflix debuted The Letter for the King, a fantastical coming-of-age series. Will Davies adapted and created the series from Tonke Dragt’s 1962 book De Brief voor de Koning. The story centers on Tiuri (Amir Wilson), a teenage squire who, when a prince threatens the safety of the Kingdom of Dagonaut, embarks on a perilous mission to deliver a message to the king. After being urged by a dying knight to make the trip, Tiuri first refuses but eventually gives in since he has no choice; fortunately, he makes several friends along the road. While on his travels, Tiuri becomes embroiled in a prophecy about a hero who would vanquish the cruel ruler and safeguard peace in Dagonaut.
The first season of The Letter for the King only comprises six episodes, and it ends on a bit of a cliffhanger. Given the manner in which the first season concluded, it’s clear that there’s room for future installments. What we know about a possible second season is as follows:
The Letter for the King Season 2 Renewal Status
Letter to the King premiered on Netflix on March 20, 2020, with the first season in its entirety. Meanwhile, at the end of Season 1, Tiuri entered a new era of her life. Therefore, there is a great deal of room for the story to develop in subsequent seasons. However, Netflix has yet to officially announce the renewal of The Letter for the King for a second season.
We haven’t heard a yes or a no, but cast member Thaddea Graham said in a discussion, “So there’s hope.” Well, at least it hasn’t been a flat-out rejection. And I believe that all of us would return; after all, who wouldn’t want to play knight again with swords and horses?
About The Letter for the King
A Dagonaut adolescent named Tiuri (Amir Wilson, His Dark Materials) is the focus of the first season of The Letter for the King. In the midst of a test, he meets a dying man who begs him to relay a message to King Favian (Yorick van Wageningen): one that reveals the betrayal of King-to-Be Prince Viridian (Gijs Blom). In the first six episodes of The Letter for the King, we see how Tiuri interacts with his young contemporaries, including Lavinia, a Mistrinaut played by Ruby Ashbourne Serkis. In the first season of The Letter for the King, the characters work together to decipher a blood moon prophesy and other omens of doom.

The Letter for the King Season 2 Expected Plot
In the season one finale, Tiuri and his companions successfully delivered the letter to the king, and upon getting back to Dagonaut, they were knighted. Queen Alianor (Emilie Cocquerel) makes a speech in the last scene before knighting the group in which she praises the novices for their efforts and says that the dark ages are over. Then, to the accompaniment of ominous music, a swarm of starlings flies above, hinting that the shadows may not entirely vanish from their world after all.
Season 2 might resume shortly after the knighthood ceremony, according to the shocking conclusion of the first season. Furthermore, there is a sequel to the book upon which the show is based. One of the king’s knights disappears at the beginning of the sequel, The Secrets of the Wild Wood, and Tiuri must make another expedition into the forest to locate him. The Letter for the King feels like it might be just as exciting and enjoyable if continued into a second season, what with the cliffhanger and all the content in the second book. Let’s hope Netflix makes a renewal announcement soon!
The Letter for the King Season 2 Release Date
On March 20, 2020, the first season of “The Letter for the King” debuted on Netflix in its entirety for the first time. There are six episodes totaling around an hour and a half.
What we do know about Season 2 is as follows: Tiuri’s tale is far from done, as the first season finishes with him beginning a new chapter in his life as a Knight. In truth, we are just at the start. Season 2 might thus include more of Tiuri’s efforts to uphold his half of the pledge and defend his king and country from the many dangers that threaten them. Following Netflix’s yearly release pattern, we may anticipate season 2 of ‘The Letter for the King’ arriving on the streaming service in 2023.
