Based on the X-Men characters and stories from Marvel Comics, ‘The Gifted’ is an American superhero television series developed by Matt Nix for Fox. The show is linked to the X-Men movies and takes place in a parallel universe where the X-Men have vanished. Nix is the showrunner for the series, which is produced by 20th Century Fox Television and Marvel Television. ‘The Gifted’ premiered on October 2, 2017, and ran for 13 episodes through January 15, 2018. It was well-received by critics and had a “solid” audience. After that, a second season of 29 episodes was ordered and premiered on September 25, 2018. Now some are asking if the show will return for a third season.
The Gifted Season 3 Renewal Status
We haven’t seen The Gifted in a very long time. Fox has canceled ‘The Gifted Season 3’ after the show’s first two seasons. Falling ratings could be the blame for this decision to end production. Matt Nix admitted in an interview with TVLine that the show was among the network’s least-watched and lowest-rated offerings. He went so far as to say that the network would prefer bigger numbers, given that the show airs during primetime.
The show received rave reviews from reviewers but was panned by audiences. The second season has seen a decline in the number of live broadcasts. About three million people watched the pilot episode. While the number of viewers for Season 2 fell below 2 million. The season two finale only pulled in roughly 1.6 million viewers.
The Gifted Season 3 Release Date
Season 1 of Gifted debuted on Oct. 2, 2017, and it wrapped up on Jan. 15, 2018. There were a total of thirteen episodes in the first season of The Gifted. After that, the show was renewed for a second season, and on September 25, 2018, the second installment of the show’s sixteen-episode run premiered. The makers of The Gifted disappointed its audience on April 17, 2019, when they revealed that the show would not be renewed for a third season. As a result, Season 3 of The Gifted does not yet have a solid air date.
The Gifted Storyline
The show depicts a regular couple who, after learning their children have mutant powers, are forced to flee the country and seek refuge among a secret society of mutants.
The first season finale was a game-changer, as Polaris followed in her father Magneto’s footsteps by causing a plane to crash, killing anti-mutant Senator Montez and Dr. Campbell in the process. The Mutant Underground’s Atlanta stronghold was destroyed as the Strucker children banded together to oppose Sentinel Services and the Hounds.

The Gifted Season 3 Plot
At the end of Season 2, there was a subtle suggestion that Season 3 might be on the way. In the season finale, “oMens,” Blink revealed a peek at the post-apocalyptic world beyond the gateway he opened. Several more mutants accepted her invitation to join her.
Nix hinted in an interview that he was planning ahead for a third season of The Gifted. He dropped a hint that the upcoming season might have a Days of Future Past influence. This won’t be a literal translation, though. The fight between the evil Sentinel Services and the heroic Mutant Underground was established in the first season. The show’s breadth increased in the second season. They zeroed down on the fall of the Inner Circle. The heroes then began making preparations for a new Mutant Underground. However, with Blink, a darker future became a present-day reality.
