Inspired by the British reality show Big Ballet, Liz Heldens’ The Big Leap is an American musical comedy-drama that debuted on Fox in 2021-22. In March of 2022, following only one season, the series was canceled. The pilot was ordered by Fox on January 28, 2020, making it the first series to be produced by Fox Studio and 20th Television for the 2020-21 television season. The pilot was written by Liz Heldens.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Fox accepted the show for the 2021-22 TV season on April 28, 2021. The pilot will be directed and executive produced by Jason Winer, and Heldens will serve as the showrunner. Fox announced the series at their Upfront presentation for the 2021-22 television season on May 17, 2021.

On September 6, 2021, Fox premiered the first season of their dance drama series, and on December 6, 2021, the season finale was published. The Big Leap Season 2 Release Date
Several news sources have reported that Fox canceled The Big Leap after just one season on March 4, 2022, despite the show’s widespread critical acclaim. It received high marks from critics, however, it was the channel’s lowest-rated show of the 2021–22 season overall. Fans were shocked to learn that the show had been canceled when the news broke. Many viewers flocked to Twitter pleading with the network to bring back The Big Leap, but the broadcaster had already decided against producing a second season.
Some say the producers are already looking for a new broadcast partner for Season 2, while others say the hunt is still in its early stages. Season 2 of The Big Leap will premiere on a different network if the show gets picked up there; otherwise, it will remain on FOX’s cancellation list.
About The Big Leap
Channel 4 in the United Kingdom airs Big Ballet, a Rare Day documentary series. The premiere of the three-part series occurred on February 6, 2014. Together with a group of amateur dancers, Wayne Sleep and prima ballerina Monica Loughman made their dream of staging Swan Lake a reality, and the score was there to accompany them.
All of the “fat” or “real women” dancers were significantly larger than the norm for classical ballet, however, even the thinner dancers would not be considered “plus-size” in most contexts.
The English National Ballet, Tamara Rojo, David Nixon, and David Plumpton were among the guests on the show, along with Matthew Bourne, Derek Deane, and Patricia Doyle. The Northern Ballet was the primary location for filming, with the last performance taking place at St. George’s Hall in Bradford in front of 1,500 spectators. The Big Leap Season 2 Plot
