Origin Season 2: Is It Renewed Or Canceled?

Mika Watkins is the American creator of the science fiction web series Origin. Along with a number of other producers including Andy Harries, Josh Appelbaum, Jeff Pinkner, and Scott Rosenberg, Mika is also the show’s writer and co-producer. Late in 2017, it was revealed that YouTube has ordered 10 episodes of the program for a 2018 release. The series debuted on YouTube Premium for the first time on November 18, 2018. There were a total of five directors working on the series, and each of them oversaw two episodes. Paul W. S. Anderson, Mark Brozel, Ashley Way, Juan Carlos Medina, and Jonathan Teplitzky were the filmmakers responsible for the production.

Origin Season 2 Renewal Status

There was a lot of praise for the visuals in Origin’s first season. The frightening setting made quite an impression. A second season of Origin was almost certain to be picked up. YouTube, though, went in a different direction. They began dropping all the classic scripted shows in favor of ad-supported programming. As a result, the show ended after just one season. Watkins has said in many interviews, though, that they plan on filming for almost four seasons. It’s possible the animals want to move. We hope very much that Origin will be able to find a new home for its future episodes. Stay tuned, as we will inform you of all the latest developments.

Origin Plot: What is it about?

The massive Siren Corporation selects a group of people to colonize a planet named Thea and sends them aboard a spacecraft to go there. After eight passengers unexpectedly awake in the midst of their trip, they discover that the crew of their aircraft is gone and the ship is badly damaged due to a mechanical breakdown. They calculate that they are now five light years from Earth and even farther from Thea. They don’t know who to trust, but they have to pull together to figure out why they were unable to complete their journey. Their backstories are gradually revealed via flashbacks as the show continues. It turns out that one of the outcasts isn’t who he seems to be. Fear sets in, and after a chain of bad choices, one of them ends up dead.

The murder case in Origin has a sci-fi twist. The series also has a horror subgenre. Overall, Origin is a visually stunning and aesthetically pleasing television drama that makes excellent use of flashbacks.

The imagery and CGI employed in Season 1 received a lot of praise. The frightening setting was effective. Some viewers complained that the program lacked a compelling plot. Some reviewers have argued that other than the setting, the series has nothing in common with science fiction. Many spectators found it intriguing and commended the characters for being believable and having interesting histories despite the film’s mostly poor reviews. The unexpected developments had audiences on the edge of their seats. Despite Origin’s minimal budget, the visual impact was well received. Everything we know thus far leads to a second season, and if it gets recommissioned, it would pick up just where the first one left off.

Why was Origin Season 2 canceled?

Bloomberg reports that the company is placing greater emphasis on corporate sponsorships and advertising. The research also found that it would value music more than high-quality original content. However, this doesn’t mean they’re done with the original material. Instead of collaborating with a Hollywood production company, director, or actor, they will instead collaborate with a YouTube creator to create new content. Finally, it announced that a new ad-supported model will be available by the end of the year.

Where can we go to watch the Origin series?

The series has been broadcasting for some time on YouTube and is now available for download. The first two episodes are available without charge on YouTube. You’ll need a YouTube Premium account, however, to see the last seven episodes.
