Love, Chunibyo, and Other Delusions” has been the subject of much speculation about its potential third-season comeback. It has been over a decade since the debut episode of the romantic comedy anime made waves in 2012. Since then, we’ve seen even more extraordinary adventures from main characters Yta and Rikka in a second season and a full-length film, but the audience is still wanting more.

Their unconventional romance is chronicled as they learn to live together as “Chunibyo.” The word refers to a person whose unrealistic beliefs in their own superhuman abilities have a negative impact on their daily existence. The problem these Walter Mitty types have, which has been called “eighth-grade syndrome,” is that they refuse to grow up, despite the fact that society considers them to be adults.

There have been many online reports suggesting that filming for Season 3 has already begun. There has been no official word regarding a third season of “Love Chunibyo & Other Delusions” from Kyoto Animation or any other organization involved in the show’s production. The anime’s first season aired in Japan from October 4th, 2012, to December 19th, 2012. In January 2014, the second season debuted, and it ended in March.
There were 12 episodes in both seasons. The production company decided against making a new season of the anime and instead made a movie to wrap everything off. In 2018, a film adaptation named “Eiga Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! Take On Me” debuted, offering what appears to be the final chapter in the plot. This makes the possibility of a third season very low.

Several sources have reported that production on season 3 has begun. There has been no official announcement of a third season of “Love Chunibyo & Other Delusions” from Kyoto Animation or any other company engaged in the production of the anime. Season one of the anime aired in Japan from October 4th, 2012, to December 19th, 2012. The second season premiered in January 2014 and ended in March. There were 12 episodes in each season. Instead of making more episodes, the studio decided to end the anime with a movie. The anime has not been picked up for a third season, and as was previously stated, cancellation is a distinct possibility.

The protagonist of the anime is Yta Togashi, a boy who used to experience “chniby.” People with “Chniby,” often called “Eighth-grade syndrome,” mistakenly feel they have special abilities. Because of his confidence in his abilities, Yta dubbed himself the “Dark Flame Master.” Yta’s self-consciousness over his delusions increases with age. As he started high school, he was determined to make a fresh start. But just as he was ready to move on from his troubled past, he made friends with the crazy Rikka, a girl in his class. She becomes intrigued by Yta after learning that he, too, has experienced delusions in the past. The previous seasons followed them as they started their romance. Love, Chunibyo, and Other Delusions!, an anime film, picks off just where the manga left off. Challenge Me.
In the anime’s post-credits sequence, Yta finally admits to himself how much he cares about Rikka. Yta goes back to her house. Rikka’s new place is up two flights of stairs from his old one. While Yta is rappelling down, Rikka realizes that it was not just one aspect of her that made him quickly fall in love with her. Knowing that Yta had previously been so irritated by Rikka made this scenario all the more touching. Their growing affection for one another is a testament to the shared memories they’ve made over the years.
It’s possible that Yta and Rikka will play an important part of the anime is renewed for a third season. Their movie romance may have concluded happily, but the new season may expose us to a new couple to root for.
