Their unconventional romance is chronicled as they learn to live together as “Chunibyo.” The word refers to a person whose unrealistic beliefs in their own superhuman abilities have a negative impact on their daily existence. Because of his confidence in his abilities, Yta dubbed himself the “Dark Flame Master.” Yta’s self-consciousness over his delusions increases with age. Love, Chunibyo, and Other Delusions!, an anime film, picks off just where the manga left off. Challenge Me.

In the anime’s post-credits sequence, Yta finally admits to himself how much he cares about Rikka. Yta goes back to her house. Rikka’s new place is up two flights of stairs from his old one. While Yta is rappelling down, Rikka realizes that it was not just one aspect of her that made him quickly fall in love with her. Knowing that Yta had previously been so irritated by Rikka made this scenario all the more touching. Their growing affection for one another is a testament to the shared memories they’ve made over the years.
